Freemake Video Converter (Now Paid) Solved

Question

Hello,I used to have a really free version of Freemake Video Converter, which I used to convert camcorder video files (MTS) to AVI, then compile them with VideoPad.With VideoPad and MTS files, the beginnings and ends of sequences are of poor quality (distortion). It's fine when converting them to AVI.Unfortunately, I updated Freemake and ended up with the paid version.-Does anyone have an old version? The ones on the site are no longer operational.-How can I convert MTS videos to something else for free? Files up to 500MB.Thanks for your cooperation.Configuration: Windows / Firefox 56.0

Hello,  Try Format Factory, which is free.  It supports a very large number of formats, including MTS.  There's also Avidemux, which is pretty good too.

Freemake requires a one-year subscription at €10 or unlimited access for €20; otherwise, it inserts an advertisement banner for the first 20 seconds.

For the record, I changed my antivirus and switched to Avira a few months ago, and it was the update notification that prompted me to take the latest version. In the meantime, I noticed that I had a problem creating a restore point (I wasn't paying attention and didn't know it wasn't working), I found the bug a while ago, so I haven't had a restore point for several months. And to top it off, I can't remember when the update to 4.1.10 was.... Moreover, I hadn't used Freemake since last May. So as they say, it's the L.E.M.

I just tested "Format Factory," it's good. It solves my MTS file problem but not why the freeware version of Freemake won't install. To be continued.

Hello,  For Freemake Video Converter, you should take version 4.1.5.4 and definitely not update it. In my opinion, it's the last version that remains valid because the logo only appears at the end; in the later versions, it appears at least at the beginning and at the end... To download it (it's the one I have): http://dl.free.fr/getfile.pl?file=/QKQWY9v4 Run a quick scan with MBAM, just in case? Thank you for this version, I will test it tomorrow. Right now, I'm testing with "Format Factory" to find the right configuration, it's tricky but I think I've found it. I’m not sure which version of Freemake I had, but there was no logo at all.

Indeed, there is a PUP on this version, but running Malwarebytes right away removes it. So there's no logo at the beginning, but there is one at the end. When loading the videos into VideoPad, the end logo doesn't appear anymore??? Like before, I wasn't checking the videos converted to AVI; maybe that's the version I had??? I'm going to mark this conversation as resolved, but if anyone has a version without PUP, that would be great.
