PC won't start after RAM change

Hello,

Today I wanted to add 8GB (2x4GB) of RAM to my PC already equipped with 8GB (2x4GB) of RAM. When I installed the additional RAM, my PC was running, but the screen and keyboard were unresponsive, so essentially my computer was on but wouldn't boot...
So I removed the 2 new RAM sticks, restarted my PC, and everything started up fine.
That's the first problem. I should mention that both sets of RAM sticks are G-Skill Sniper for DDR3, but the new ones are DDR3-2133 while the old ones are DDR3-1700; normally, the 2133 is compatible with my MSI 970 motherboard.

My second problem, which is even worse, is that I disconnected my old RAM sticks to see if the new ones would work in their place, but to no avail. So I reinstalled everything as it was originally, and now my PC won’t start AT ALL, just like at the beginning when I had the 4 sticks connected...

So I tried putting the sticks in all the different slots without success, pressing the power button for 30 seconds after turning the PSU off, I even completely removed and reinserted the motherboard battery in a last-ditch effort, and still nothing...

So my PC is pretty much everything I have outside of classes in my simple student life, and I admit I'm a bit panicked about having to get it repaired because I need it for work and my budget is very tight...

Here are the details of my setup that I built more than a year ago:

MSI 970 motherboard
GTX 1060 6GB OC graphics card
AMD FX 8350 Black Edition processor
RAM (without the new ones) G-Skill Sniper 2x4GB 1700MHz 1.6v
BeQuiet 500W PSU

Thank you for any potential responses...

P.S.: Please don’t assert anything unless you are certain of what you are saying (it might save me from spending the little money I have)

Hello,

I had the same issue with the same motherboard as yours.

After multiple checks, it turned out that the RAM sticks were not properly seated on the motherboard.

I encourage you to check this if you haven't already done so.

Best regards.

Well that was exactly it Obinos74! Thanks buddy, you’re saving me from a pretty embarrassing situation!

For now, I've only done this with my 2 original sticks, I’ll try the other 2 tomorrow to see if my 2 problems were actually the same... Thanks again anyway, you’re really saving me!

Grand merci à obinos. J'ai vraiment flippé quand mon PC ne voulait plus démarrer.
