FUJITSU SIEMENS Amilo Pi 2515 VISTA => XP

Hello everyone,

I have a Fujitsu Siemens AMILO Pi 2515 laptop equipped with original Vista Home Premium. I’m trying to install XP Pro, but no luck. My disk is partitioned and multiboot OK.

Chipset: Intel(R) GM965 Express
Memory controller: 82GM965

The installation starts (F6) then floppy drive OK (please insert disk into drive A... and press Enter).

Inserting the floppy with the fl6 flpy32 driver, the drive works and the !!: Textsetup.oem file not found.

I’ve been researching for 3 days and I’m beginning to despair!

    Hi.
    Even if you manage to make him swallow XP. Are you sure you can find all the hardware drivers afterwards?

    Sorry, but the manufacturer having not developed drivers (other than Vista) for this model, I think you will run into trouble persisting in the idea of switching to XP (even in multi-boot)
    Look at what Fujitsu Siemens says in the downloads for the amilo pi 2515

    for info I have Vista and no more trouble than there was with Xp at the beginning....even less..

    thanks for your reply.
    Actually, this laptop belongs to a colleague who bought it in good faith without worrying about the operating system and thinking she would install software she uses regularly such as AutoCAD, etc...
    She has a brand new machine and doesn’t know what to do with it.

    Although I'm not sure it will work every time... under Vista it is possible to choose how to run a program...
    By right-clicking the icon or the program in question, then Properties and Compatibility, you can choose to run it under one of the older versions of Windows...

      Well... The solution may lie on the manufacturer’s site for the program(s) involved...
      For AutoCAD... see Autodesk

    Hello Mitch 6512,

    An alternative to your problem is to install VMWARE which allows you under Vista to have multiple active OSes, XP, Linux, etc...

    It works correctly.

    I also have this problem. I installed XP because I don’t like Vista, but I can’t find the compatible drivers? mine are from my old PC, I have no sound, no webcam, etc. I’ll try to do what Billou suggests and otherwise I don’t know? thanks to all of you, have a good day, kisses from Masreille

    hello everyone!

    apparently a good part of the Amilo range was designed with Vista but with ideal features for XP and obviously Fujitsu Siemens didn’t make any effort to develop the drivers... same problem on several topics as far as I can see

    I went there, I get to the page where it says the drivers are compatible, xa2528, super happy, I download everything and install the drivers and there, to my great surprise it doesn’t work, but thanks anyway.

    me too I have an Amilo Pi 2515 but when I run the Windows XP PRO CD (legal), before the installation it tells me there are no hard drives! So please help me!

    I can't stand Windows Vista anymore!

      Hello Dark option and Petaia,

      Have you tried a low-level format.
      If not, you should be able to find a low-level formatting program from the drive manufacturer (Western Digital in my case).
      When I installed XP on an AMILO PI 2515, I hadn't done it.
      However, my father-in-law has a MEDION Vista laptop on which I installed XP and where the modified CD in the same way as for the AMILO 2515 did not work. I had to perform a low-level format for the HDD to be recognized.

        Hello,

        To perhaps provide a solution for some to reinstall a PC whose hard drive is not recognized, one must check if the drive is properly detected by the PC BIOS (F2, Del or other at startup) and if it is detected and the drive is SATA, some BIOSs allow starting the PC without the native SATA mode, which allows starting the XP installation. Once the XP installation is finished, re-enable the native SATA option in the BIOS, the PC should boot and run correctly.

        For systems with recovery partitions, it is preferable to make an image (Ghost, or others) of each partition, or the entire disk to reinstall the PC as it came from the factory, i.e. with the software provided and preinstalled at purchase.

        Reinstalling Windows from the CD installs a basic Windows very quickly but devoid of any integrated programs, the driver updates having to be done afterwards by downloading the drivers appropriate for the PC from the manufacturer's site.

        Tip: start by finding the network drivers to finish the other updates from the PC; if the network cards are not recognized after Windows installation, use a USB key or other media to load them from another PC (or a friend's, neighbor's, ...).
        Once Internet access is available, perform Windows Update (or better later, Microsoft Update) and choose "Custom" to also display any available device drivers.
        After your multiple restarts, look for missing drivers on the manufacturer's site first and then elsewhere if the driver in question is not available. www.ma-config.com helps a lot to find what is missing.

        There you go, I hope with these infos beginners will be able to manage reinstalling their system.

    for the drivers of your laptops and other PCs, preferably download the drivers from the manufacturer's website (Fujitsu-Siemens, Dell, HP, Compaq, Toshiba, etc) and to respond to Talbert, go to: http://be.ts.fujitsu.com/fr/support/downloads.html

    Hello, for driver issues on XP, try going to the manufacturers’ sites, but for the hardware. Realtek for the sound card, etc... I just moved an Amilo Pi 2515 (with a lot of trouble, admittedly) to Seven Ultimate (Windows 7 Ultimate), which runs much better than Vista; it handles RAM and the processor better. The only problem (which Fuji doesn’t seem to have solved) is the keyboard that “locks” on the CTRL and ALT GR keys at startup (Possibility to unlock by removing the driver or by using the on-screen keyboard. (If I resolve the keyboard issue, I’ll tell you the steps to take) Sincerely, Black-Label Net.

    Sorry for the late reply, but this last month after spending a few sleepless nights and burning about forty CD-Rs with Nlite and other tools I finally, thanks to a thread whose address I’m attaching, managed to install XP.
    In the meantime I had installed VMware which works well and I was pleased to rediscover XP. The only issues are that the USB devices and the CD reader are not recognized. I also think the ideal would be to have 1GB of RAM extra because currently with my 1GB, of which 768MB are allocated to Vista and 256 to XP, it's slow.
    Thanks for the info as it can always be useful.
