Hello everyone,
In Libre Office Calc, I would like to use the autofilter function to sort my table based on the criteria High Priority, Medium, Low.
When I sort using the built-in filter, it arranges them alphabetically. How can I assign a value to each entry to sort them with low < medium < high?
I found pre-made filters, for example with the months of the year, but how can I create my own?
Thank you very much in advance to all the users, feel free to correct me on the names of these functions so I can research in more detail.
Best regards,
AshDown 27

Hello.
Well, after searching for you, I found the location of the tool:
Tools / Options / LibreOffice Calc / Sort Lists
New / Entries / low, medium, high / OK
I tested it: it works!

Hello.
I think you're confusing SORTING and FILTERING!
Try Ascending Sort, then Descending Sort, and see what works for you...

Hello,
Thank you for your response but I'm not sure if I was clear.
I don't want to filter; I just want my table to be sorted by order of importance if necessary.
When I sort in ascending or descending order, the sorting method remains the same: alphabetical order. And in either direction, it doesn't suit me. (High, Medium, and Low are not sorted in the "right order" alphabetically)
How can I assign a theoretical value to a word so that sorting occurs based on this assigned theoretical value instead of a predefined criterion like alphabetical order?

Of course, but I thought you knew, you need to sort in the priority column, not in another one!
If you had attached a sample file, I could have provided a more precise and concrete explanation...

If you had attached a sample file, I could have provided a more precise and concrete explanation...
1) Go to https://www.cjoint.com/
2) Click on [Browse] to select your file (max 15 MB)
3) Scroll down to click on the blue button [Create Cjoint link]
4) After a few seconds the second page will display, with the link in bold; right-click on it and choose "Copy link"
5) Go back to your discussion on CCM, and in your message, do "Paste".

Thank you, I would like to sort using only the auto-filter, as one would do for a table on a website. Perhaps I'm not using the right sorting method?
Here is the example file:
https://www.cjoint.com/c/GImor2fMGkJ
In the "Priority" column, I click on the arrow, and the software offers me the option "Sort A to Z" or "Sort Z to A," but neither corresponds to the order of sorting I would like to perform.
This table is quite simple, but I would like to make it more complex in due time.
Thanks again!

1 Basse;
2 Moyenne;
3 Haute.

If this solution doesn't work for you, insert a column where you will put
1, 2, or 3, which will serve as a sorting column.

Hello!
Thank you for your response. Unfortunately, neither of these two solutions works for me because:
- regarding the first one, I had considered it, but I find it somewhat "gimmicky"; I would like to find a more academic solution, as this is a problem I will encounter in other situations where there will be more than 3 entries
- for the second one, I already have other numbered sorting columns
The software is capable of sorting by month, for example: Jan, Feb, Mar, etc. It does not sort them in alphabetical order. Is there no way to create your own sorting lists?
Thanks again,
