Hello,
I have a computer running Ubuntu 14.04, and without making any updates, it has removed the menu bar that contains all the applications I need to work, as well as the ability to open a terminal (it doesn't recognize CTRL ALT T or even ALT F4 ....) and to close a window (the minimize, maximize, and close icons have disappeared).
Can you help me?
Thank you in advance for your responses!

Hello,
I don't know enough about it, but it looks like Unity has crashed. Have you tried restarting the machine? -
Yes in a normal way and more violently (by removing the battery). I've seen topics about reinstalling Unity, but I can't even open a terminal, so I don't really know how to do it!

CTRL ALT F1 works but it shows me a completely black screen different from the terminal I was used to seeing... And when I try to restart unity, it says incorrect login even though I'm pretty sure about my password!

You must enter the login before the password.
CTRL ALT F1 is used to display a full-screen terminal, as if no desktop environment were installed...
If I remember correctly, when you enter this mode, you must first enter a login, then a password, and only then can you execute commands (for you, the reboot of Unity).
My skills go further, but to relaunch Unity, you just need to enter the command "unity" according to this topic: https://askubuntu.com/questions/31849/how-do-i-restart-unity#31859 -
The topic you gave me helped in the early stages to solve the problem. I supplemented it with this one https://forum.ubuntu-fr.org/viewtopic.php?id=1555141 Everything is back in order!
I thought I would spend more time on it, but no, it's cool!
Thank you very much!
