Hello,
I have a SmartTV (a Samsung UE55H6270) and I have several HDMI inputs, including one labeled STB. I read online that STB stands for "Set Top Box" and that it's for connecting a console or similar device. However, I connected my console to one of the "standard" HDMI ports and it works fine too.
So, why use this STB input and not another one? What is the advantage of this one compared to others?
Thank you in advance for your responses

Hi,
The "STB" connectors have no particular advantage... it's still HDMI in principle. However, sometimes the connectors can have different standards (HDMI 1.4, HDMI 2, etc.).
So, no specific advantage, except that in some cases, the "STB" connector turns on the TV as soon as the connected device powers on... and switches to that output.
Generally, the STB input is intended for the digital TV decoder... and failing that, for consoles or others. :-)
