Hello, I just ordered a monitor, and I thought it had DVI, but it only has HDMI and VGA. I have a graphics card that supports DVI and HDMI, but I know that for better quality I should use DVI. Will I lose a lot of quality switching from DVI to HDMI? How can I remedy this? Thanks for a quick reply, please.

There are 3 types of DVI:
DVI-A (which has become rare): purely analog;
DVI-I: analog and digital.
DVI-D: purely digital.
The biggest difference between DVI and HDMI is that HDMI carries both image and sound, whereas DVI, in principle, only carries the image. The data rates of the latest versions of HDMI are higher to allow for the transmission of sound and image in UltraHD or 4K.

Indeed, it is remarkable that the most appreciated and most expensive screens, such as EIZOs, are almost all equipped with DVI connectivity.
