My DVD drive no longer appears in My Computer.

If the reader does not appear in File Explorer:
Maybe delete the Upper and Lower filters:
Download this -->> Delete Filters.inf <<--
and place it on the desktop.

Right-click on the file
Choose --> Install
Restart the PC.

Right-click on the file --> SuppressionFilters.inf
Choose --> Install
Restart the PC.

Go to Start
Run
Type --> regedit.exe and OK

Follow this tree:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4d36e965-e325-11ce-bfc1-08002be10318}

In the right pane, if the values Upper filters and Lower filters are still present, delete them.

If they are not present, try this:
Turn off the computer.
Open the case
Disconnect all connections on the CD drive
Turn on the computer
The CD drive will no longer be recognized
Turn off the computer again
Reconnect everything to the CD drive
Turn on the computer and see what happens.
