Nonsense! I don't see why Avast, which has never caused any issues on my PC for the past 7/8 years, would suddenly start causing one! Especially since I haven't made any changes to it lately.

Thank you for the information. I have applied the rule list for my Windows firewall. My PC is turned off every night, so it's restarted often, and there have been no more blue screens since I uninstalled Avast.

This appears to be a typical software driver bug and is not likely to be caused by a hardware problem. This might be a case of memory corruption. Okay. I have no other USB devices on my PC. My use of it is quite basic.

I have an error message when installing Driverscould. "Could not access the Windows Installer service. This may occur if the Windows Installer is not properly installed. Please contact your technical support for assistance."

While waiting for your response for the installation of Driverscould, I will try to shut down and restart normally after having uninstalled Avast!

It’s better for me to do one operation at a time to make sure I identify the cause of the problem.

Apart from Steam and a game purchased at Fnac, I don't remember installing anything else recently, and that was already three weeks ago.

I will try a system restore to the closest earlier date, since the problem only occurred two days ago.

I consult the help pages before sending a message to ask for help here, but there are half of the proposed manipulations that I am unable to do. For example, "If Windows starts, one of the memory modules was faulty, replace it." They are cute to mention this as if it were obvious, but I can't even recognize a memory module, let alone replace it.

I don't have any USB devices connected to the ports on my PC. The mouse is infrared, and the printer is only connected when I print.
