Restoring a PC from BIOS?

Hello,

A few years ago, I "broke" a desktop computer :/ To do this, (I was little) I pressed all the keys on the keyboard simultaneously, and... what was bound to happen happened :( I think I opened a mother file through a keyboard shortcut, then deleted that mother file... I didn't have time to see, the PC was in full freeze, and that's why I made this huge blunder (I was like not even 10 years old, I think). The PC is running Windows XP Home Edition. When I turn it on, it tells me that the computer could not start because a system file is missing. I don't have the administrator password, but I have full BIOS access. I also don't have an installation CD for Windows, but I have the key that shows it was purchased. I've tried to repair Windows using two ISO CDs, trying to get the right version, but I'm not sure if they are. When I try to start the repair, I can't without the administrator password. By some kind of bug, when I'm asked for the admin password (which is via cmd), if I press "enter," I get the cmd!

Is there any way to restore without losing data on Windows XP? If not, could I restore the hard drive, while having an OS (if possible, not Windows 8-10, as the PC is probably not powerful enough)?
Thank you for your reply :)

Hi, you need to start with a bootable CD like Hiren's Boot CD or Knoppix. These live CDs allow you to open a file explorer from which you can copy everything important onto a USB stick, for example. Then, format the HDD and do a clean install of Win XP. Since you already had an official XP, I don't think downloading an ISO of Win XP is wrong.

I can provide all the details, waiting for your response.

Why not! I'm willing to try, but I don't know where to find your bootable CDs :/ But if you're willing to explain it to me! Thank you!

To choose the most suitable CD, can you quickly give me the PC's specs? No need to go into detail, just the RAM and processor will suffice.
