Wifi that keeps disconnecting

Solved

Hello,

I have a problem with my Mac (surpriiiiiise)! The problem is as follows: everything works fine, including the wifi. Then suddenly the pages stop loading (as if I didn't have an internet connection). The wifi is marked as connected and functioning. So I disable/enable the wifi, and then it works again for... 90 seconds. And then it starts again. It can last for a few minutes or even hours. It happens to me randomly, every few days.

It doesn't seem to be a problem with the box since it happens at my home (Bouygues box in Gironde) and at my parents' (Freebox in Yvelines). Moreover, when it "jumps" on my Mac, it works perfectly on my iPhone.

I am reaching out for your generous help, and I specify that I'm not great with tech, and even less with Macs (I switched to Apple only a year ago).

Thank you in advance to everyone who takes the time to read and respond to me :)

Raphaëlle

Configuration: Macintosh / Safari 10.1

Hello

There may be a misconfigured setting in the system preferences for the network...

First, perform a new network configuration by following these steps
https://forums.commentcamarche.net/forum/affich-29535166-probleme-d-ip-auto-assignee-macbook-pro#5

Then, from the menu bar; click on the Airport icon, choose the network, enter the password...

and if you need to connect to a new network, select it again from the menu bar.

Next, in the system preferences, you can drag your preferred network to the top of the list.
You should also remember to delete unnecessary networks in the future that could disrupt the connection

Sometimes, there can be interference issues on the channel in automatic mode, so you can manually set the channel. But initially, it’s best to redo the configuration from scratch, preferably at home, then see

best of luck...

Always provide your system configuration completely - exact model of the computer, exact OS version.

Hello Francis,

Sorry for the delayed response, I was in exams and then traveling... I'm finally taking care of this issue. I redid the configuration. A few remarks:
- I don’t have an ethernet (the tab doesn’t exist)
- in the DNS tab where it says to leave the box empty, I already have things noted that I can’t delete.
- it didn’t work, the configuration started and immediately the bug continued (it’s been hell since this morning).

Thank you very much for your help, if you have any other suggestions don’t hesitate... :D

Hello,

no Ethernet tab?? ... this is probably a laptop Mac without an Ethernet port ... ?

The issue may be due to interference with another user on the Wi-Fi channel being used.

From the menu bar, you should have the Wi-Fi icon; you select "Create a network"... then you can see that you can choose the channel, most of the time, channel 11 is offered or used by default in automatic mode.

Try creating a new network with a different channel than auto mode or 11.

My comment may seem stupid, surely.
But, um, once I've created this network (I chose channel 1), I'm connected to it and... this network has no internet! I must have missed something...

The wifi network must be a link between the Mac and an internet access point. This internet access point can be a box at home or at a friend's house, a wifi router at home or at a friend's house, or a public free wifi point.

So, if the problem is at home and there is already an existing wifi network on a given channel between the box or the router, it is necessary to delete this network and recreate it using another channel.
