Good evening,
I saw that you solved your problem.
For anyone else who might have the same issue (it happens regularly), it’s a misconfiguration at the vertical alignment level:
Tab Page Layout, Layout group, click on the dialog launcher to display the Page Layout dialog (or double-click on the ruler to the left).
In the dialog, tab Layout, section Vertical Alignment => Choose Top.

If you're looking to reduce the space between paragraphs, check the line spacing:

Otherwise, insert a line break (TAB & ENTER)
