Micro disconnections with the TP-Link AV500 Powerline Adapter

Hello,

I have very frequent disconnections with my internet connection, and I just can't understand why.

The two powerline adapters are plugged in alone into a socket. Nothing else is plugged into them (they have an integrated socket but I never use it). Both are identical. The disconnections happen randomly. They last only a few seconds. Generally, I just have to unplug and plug back in at the back of my computer for it to come back, for a few minutes or a few hours. Sometimes it happens in the evening when the apartment's power is "being used" and sometimes when no one is there except me. When the disconnection occurs, the three lights on both powerline adapters are green. I have also changed the sockets, but it makes no difference.

There is no way I'm going back to WiFi... very low speed, while here with the speed I have nothing to complain about.

Thank you very much for your responses.

I suspected it a bit... I had a "good teacher" not long ago... follow my gaze :-)
In fact, the newer the electrical installation, the more issues you'll have because of the circuit breakers that protect each circuit.
If you had an older installation with "real fuses," you wouldn't have any trouble.
In your case, here are the solutions... ask a qualified electrician to modify the circuit so that the CPL N°1 and CPL N°2 sockets are under the same breaker (you'll need to check the wiring to avoid overloading that breaker... don't do anything yourself if you don't have knowledge in this area.
Otherwise, you can take a drill and make holes in the walls to run an Ethernet cable.
Sorry, that's all I can see as solutions to your problem... unless I forgot something...
Best regards

Hello,
here's what I can advise you:
unroll a long extension cord starting from the outlet where CPL No. 1 is located.
At the end of this extension, plug in CPL No. 2.
By doing this, the CPLs are on the same outlet circuit.
If you no longer have issues, it indicates that the problem may lie with the electrical panel, as in this case, the CPL signal passes through the protection breakers, which can cause disturbances.
Try it and keep us updated.

Thank you, I will try as soon as I have a longer extension.

I must add that I feel like this happens to me much less often in the evening than during the day. Just today, I've already experienced about ten disconnections, whereas last night I was able to watch 4 hours of a series without it glitching once...

Hi,
if we're going to run an extension, we might as well just lay an ethernet cable, that would be more useful :-)

Hello Brupala,

this is just to test the powerline adapters... afterwards, it's true that installing an Ethernet cable can be considered.
Best regards

The layout of the apartment prevents me from having an Ethernet cable. So I can't test the powerline adapters if I can't connect powerline adapter number 2 to my (desktop!) PC to see if I'm still experiencing these interruptions.

Since all the indicator lights are still green, there's no other way to check...

In fact, I will have to move the PC.

No,
there's always a way for an Ethernet cable, although it's true that it can require quite a bit of work.
One day, when you have fiber, you won't be able to enjoy it to the fullest with powerline adapters.

When I say long... even if it's only 2 or 3 meters... it's actually to see if you still have these brief interruptions while being on the same circuit.

I tested it with an extension cord, and I have no interruptions. So I suppose you are right regarding the circuit breaker.

I forgot... you can also ask an electrician to replace the affected circuit breakers with "classic" fuse holders.. well, you're not going in the direction of progress, but you'll always be within the standards and your powerline adapters will work without issues.
