Hello everyone, I have a few questions:
1- Can I connect an Xbox One to a PC monitor only? I would like to play offline only with disc games. (those from Xbox 360...)
2- But I know that I need to connect the Xbox to the internet at the beginning (before use) for updates. I have Windows 8.1. Is that correct?
3- And if I decide to go on Xbox Live, is Windows 8.1 and a 4 GB computer sufficient?
Thank you!

Otherwise, if you have a computer monitor, a desktop screen not portable, you can buy a VGA to HDMI or DVI to HDMI adapter; it's simpler and the quality will be better.

I specifically want to buy a monitor just for the Xbox. And I want to know if it could replace a TV!
Are VGA or DVI adapters necessary if the monitor already has an HDMI port?
Do you know if I can do the mandatory initial updates online with Windows 8.1?
Thank you very much, Max!- So for the updates, I don't know. But the monitor in DVI or VGA replaces a TV, but there is no sound, so you need either headphones or external speakers. Otherwise, there are screens with HDMI like I have, and most of the time there is sound, like I do for my Xbox One, but the sound quality is not great. But I play with headphones for the screen, I recommend mine, the BenQ GL2450, which has everything up to HDMI, just missing the DisplayPort, but that won't be useful given your expectations. It's a good size, 24", and it has sound but it's not great; it has a good price/quality ratio.
Best regards - Finally, after further research... I realized that several TVs were cheaper than PC screens... But still, if I had had a screen on hand, I would have been delighted to tinker!
Besides, I looked into the PS4. So the choice is: TV and PS4.
Several games available on disc or download while Xbox One only offers a portion of the games under 360. We're told they offer the most popular games, but so far the "base" games like GTA5 and Minecraft are not available for backward compatibility. Isn't that suspicious?
Moreover, (unless I missed it), the PS4 only mentions having internet access and doesn’t bother with Windows 10 and its imposed Edge. It's such a nightmare that I downgraded to 8.1, which was far from pleasant with 8.
In the meantime, I make wishes while watching shooting stars for Mac to lower its prices! Hehe!
I hope I didn’t waste your time? But no, you taught me something!
