Hello,

I’ll explain my issue: we are a association, our internet provider is CELESTE (fiber) and we have 5 public IPs.

The support service sent us these details:

IP pool: 94.228.191.240/29 (5 usable IPs)
Subnet mask: 255.255.255.248
Connection port: 1-LAN
Subnet routed to: 159.180.243.166
DNS 1: 83.142.144.246
DNS 2: 83.142.144.249

My question is how to configure these 5 IPs on a router and what type of router to buy.

Currently we have a PC connected to port 1-LAN with IP: 159.180.243.166 Subnet mask: 255.255.255.252 Gateway: 159.180.2543.165, and we can access the internet.

Celeste equipment model: StarQos 3 - 3 Ethernet ports (1-LAN, 2-TELEPHONE, 3-CONSOLE)

Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
    I don’t quite understand,
where does this 5 usable addresses come from?
a /29 is a block of 8 addresses, what do they do with the others?
or we remove the network (240), the broadcast (247) the router (241 for example) remains from 242 to 246 for your machines.
    in short,
you take any router with an ethernet WAN, you set the WAN to DHCP client, it should obtain 159.180.243.166 as well.
and you configure a network 94.228.191.241 with mask 255.255.255.248, you will then be able to have 5 machines in 242,243,244,245,246 with 241 as gateway.
if you want DHCP or NAT, you must map the entire range 94.228.191.240/29 to your LAN in private IP address.
    after,
not all routers know how to map NAT on a range, but you can do it on a single address.
    and … Voila Voilou Voila!

    Thank you for your response

I’m not a pro, so the WAN part needs to be configured with IP:159.180.243.166 Subnet Mask:255.255.255.252 Gateway:159.180.2543.165
How do you configure a network?
Do we need to modify the DHCP range DHCP which is already on 192.168.... to 94.228.191.242 to 247, and are these ranges accessible from the outside?

Can a DSL router do that?

Sorry, I ask a lot of questions
    Thank you

No, not an ADSL router, it needs a WAN port Ethernet.
Leave the WAN with a dynamic address (DHCP).
In the range 242 to 246 (not 247), I recommend assigning fixed addresses to the clients; 5 addresses is too few for DHCP.

    Hello,

Well I tested this weekend it works but when I query my IP online on the site mon-ip.com I get 159.180.243.166, why don’t I get 94.228.191.24x ?

    Thanks in advance

Do you have NAT enabled on your router?
You need to disable it then.
How many devices do you have to connect?

      No NAT, that surprises me...
What local IP address do PCs have?

This router is too simplistic and not suitable for your use, we can't disable the NAT :-(

      at first,
I’d say a Cisco, but a budget range would be needed.

    Hi,

I just received the equipment, the setup looks tricky
There is something I don't understand how a LAN IP can be recognized as a public IP? And do I need to do routing?

    I'll test that this Saturday

      OK,
you configure without NAT and you set the address 94.228.191.241 on the router's LAN with subnet mask 255.255.255.248
fixed IPs on the PCs from 94.228.191.242 to 246 on the PCs, same subnet mask and gateway 241.
For the WAN, the same, as DHCP client.
The LAN IP addresses are IP addresses like any other, you nate them if they are private.
