My screen flickers on Google Chrome

Hello everyone,

I just bought an Acer Swift 3 (SF314-51-52X2 - i5 - 8GB - 256GB SSD).

Everything is going well except for a display bug that occurs only on Google Chrome.

When I move my mouse (either wired or touchpad), my Google Chrome window slightly jumps / flickers up and down. Small squares appear very subtly from time to time and then close immediately (like a subliminal image in a movie, or pop-ups that appear / disappear very quickly).

As a salesperson, I spend my days on Google Chrome (Google Sheets, CRM...) so having my window jump around is really uncomfortable.

I have:
- Windows Defender: Scan OK
- Malwarebytes: Scan OK
- Ccleaner: Scan OK
- Windows Update: up to date
- DriversCloud: Everything is up to date except for the graphics card but when I download a driver for that card (Intel HD Graphics 620), it always tells me that the publisher is not recognized by Windows and blocks the installation.

According to my research on this flickering, 3 programs could be the cause: Norton, iCloud, and IDT Audio, but I have none of the three.

I tried to make a video of the screen with my iPhone, but the rendering does not show the flickering, which is too subtle in the video.

Can anyone help me please?

I do not experience this display bug on Edge, Internet Explorer or even Windows 10 programs (This PC or others).

But I do not want to change from Google Chrome.

Thank you for your responses,

Have a good day,

Sébastien

I found the solution thanks to the Google forum.

You had to go to the Google Chrome settings and uncheck the "hardware acceleration" box.

Hopefully this post will help others.

Excellent, thank you very much DJSEKK,

A small clarification for those to whom your post would also save their life but especially their eyes ;-)
to find this option in Chrome:
- click on the 3 vertical dots at the top right
- click on Settings (3rd option from the bottom of the menu)
- on the settings page, display the menu by clicking on the 3 horizontal bars at the top left
- at the bottom of the menu click on advanced settings to display more options
- click on system
- in the top block of the page that just appeared, it is the middle option: "Use hardware acceleration when available"

Thanks again to DJSEKK.
