Hello,
I am sharing my problem that has been going on for about a week...
My internet connection is really perfect (SFR fiber), yet on my gaming desktop PC, all the websites won't load; I quote "This site is unreachable." I am using Google Chrome.
What's surprising is that only YouTube works; I can watch videos without any problem, as well as Google where I can perform all searches, but when I click on the site I'm interested in, the problem arises with sites like Facebook, Twitter...
For example, Skype also doesn't work and some software, yet all my online games like CS:GO, Arma 3, Garry's Mod work online without any issues, with a good connection and no problems.
By the way, I am writing to you using my laptop, which has no issues, as well as my various gaming consoles and mobile phone on Wi-Fi.
My desktop PC is on ethernet and I thought the problem might be caused by that since it is the only device on ethernet, so I tried connecting it via Wi-Fi, but it seems the problem persists.
Yesterday, I decided to reset my PC to its factory settings to see if the problem persisted, and since that reset, I had no problems with all the sites working until I went for dinner in the evening. After browsing for hours, when I came back, the problem was back.
I don't know what to do anymore; my antivirus is Windows Defender.
I have done several searches online without success but found similar problems to mine.
Thank you for your help and have a good evening.
Configuration: Windows / Chrome 54.0.2840.99

Hi, I was in this situation too and let me tell you that if you have Avast or something similar like me, you need to disable the option or options related to the internet: For Avast, you need to disable the WEB AGENT! After that, it goes back to normal.
EDIT: When only certain sites respond, it can also be a DNS issue. In that case, try using alternative DNS like Google DNS or OpenDNS.

OK, thanks for the info.

I confirm that it comes from Avast. Only Google and YouTube were working; I disabled Avast to check and everything started working again... let's see with port 80!
Hello everyone,
I would like to join the conversation because I have the same problem as fumercigare, with a few details changed.
I’m on an HP laptop running Windows 8.1. For the past week, my web access has been restricted: other than YouTube and Google, I can't go to any other site. Every time, the page seems to load but actually keeps looping (message 'waiting for www.xxxx.com' in the status bar). Then it eventually stops with messages 'this site is unreachable' due to taking too long to respond or 'no internet connection'.
On Google, I can search but none of the links work.
All the other software I’ve tested (antivirus, Skype, Thunderbird, FileZilla, ...) fail to connect.
I’ve tried both Chrome and Firefox, same result.
I’ve tried both Wi-Fi and Ethernet, same result (by the way, I have other PCs on Wi-Fi at home where I have no problems).
I’ve updated Avast and Spybot and ran them but they didn’t detect anything, and it hasn’t solved the problem.
From a DOS window, I can ping all the sites without any issues.
I obviously haven’t changed anything in my network configuration (for IPv4, I’m set to auto IP address and auto DNS servers). I’ve checked the hosts file but nothing to report.
I tried the kamalmedia solution (flushdns) but with no result.
And I haven't installed anything new on the machine.
Unlike others, the problem doesn’t resolve temporarily by rebooting the PC.
So I’m at a loss for ideas. I’m not sure if it’s a virus (but then why can I access YouTube), if my IP address is blocked, ...
any help would be appreciated!
Thank you in advance.

I just fixed the problem with a few commands in good old MS-DOS; it seems to come from a program like Hide My IP.
Open the command prompt by typing cmd in the taskbar.
Type:
ipconfig /flushdns
press enter
ipconfig /release
press enter
ipconfig /renew
press enter and wait
Open your browser and enjoy your connection.

Since I've had the same problem for a while now and after trying numerous methods without success, I tried the one from Kamalmedia and miracle, I managed to open web pages but ONLY FOR A FEW MINUTES. Then it gets stuck again!!! ???
I redo Kamalmedia's method: okay, it's good!! But it crashes again!!
How to "fix" your Kamalmedia method?

Good evening,
On Wi-Fi, you lose all the speed of fiber... on Ethernet you get its maximum... According to what you've said, the connection seems good...
If you had provided specific numbers, it would have been more practical... like the link to your speed measurement (speedtest.net), the type of your PC, your version of Windows, a screenshot of this command cmd /k ipconfig/all>config.txt & notepad config.txt etc..
In my opinion, it's a matter of port configuration in your router or the settings given to your network card.. set a static IP and use DNS like OpenDNS: ...DNS1=208.67.222.222 and DNS2=208.67.220.220
Properties of: Internet protocol version 4 (TCP/IP v4)

Hi Jeannets,
I'm always on Ethernet on my PC; I just wanted to test it on Wi-Fi to see if the problem could come from there.
As for the stats with Speedtest, I have a 12 ms ping and 100 & 97 for download and upload speeds. I have the 64-bit version of Windows 10. As for my PC configuration: i7 6700K, 16 GB of RAM, GTX 1080 from KFA2...
I entered your two IPs in the primary and secondary DNS under Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IP v4), and it still doesn't work.
I would like to test going to the settings site at 192.168.1.1, but the page loads forever...

Hello there,
I'm replying here as well to let you know, fumeurcigare, that I have the exact same problem as you (inaccessible sites except for YouTube and software like TeamSpeak, whether it's Ethernet or Wi-Fi; I even tried using 4G tethering, but that doesn't work either). At least if it helps reassure you, you're not the only one facing this issue; I've had it for just over a week, like you. It appeared for no reason at all.
I've conducted quite a few tests on my end without success, but by restarting the PC, the sites work until the next cut-off; I don't know if this might help you as well.
I don't know about you, but for me, pings work (test "ping google.com" in cmd), which is really strange. Having reset the PC as well, I'm thinking it's either a hardware issue (which I would find surprising), a modification in the BIOS (that's strange too), or a problem with the box, but having changed my box three days ago (switching from Free to Orange), I don't think that's it either.
This problem is really odd, and there are no solutions online, which doesn’t help us. x)
I also think we should test safe mode, but on my end, I would need to leave the PC running in safe mode for a few hours/days to know if the bug will come back or not. If your bug is really permanent, I think that in safe mode you’ll be able to tell if it’s a software or hardware problem, provided the sites are accessible in "safe mode with network connection."
Anyway, I'll try to add information if I carry out more tests or manage to fix the issue.
One last small thing: did you get a PS4 Pro? Because for me, the problem started a few days after I bought this new console. So yes, it would be really WTF; I think the console is messing up the network, but you never know, we have to consider everything.

Hi,
I've also been having this issue for a little over a week without downloading or installing any particular software...
In any case, when I connect with my phone, everything works perfectly well, so it must certainly be coming from the computer.
If you find a solution, I would be interested to know it.

Hello,
To reply to you as thoroughly as possible, I think it’s a Windows update that unfortunately caused everything to crash...
Otherwise, I haven't purchased the PS4 Pro
As for me, Teamspeak and some software are working, which is very surprising.
I will therefore test in safe mode to see if it works.
If you have any news or have resolved the issue, I'm interested! :)
Have a great day.

Good evening,
I would like to thank Jeannets for his quick and effective reply!
I followed Malekal's recommendations and it worked for me: I have regained web access on my PC (browsing, email, software updates, etc.).
However, I first did (as advised) a simple repair of Firefox and Chrome but that wasn't enough.
So I uninstalled them cleanly. I then reinstalled Firefox (thanks to an Offline installer) and it was fine.
I then reinstalled Chrome and everything is good.
So thank you for this post, thanks to Jeannets and if you don’t hear from me in a few days, it means the method holds up over time!

Hello everyone,
I'm bringing this topic back up ;)
For a week now, the same issue that fumeurcigare mentioned has happened on my laptop, I can't do anything except YouTube. I can play my games and use TeamSpeak, but for certain games that update quite often, the update search doesn't start. This problem came up just like that; I'm posting directly from my desktop computer now. I primarily use Google Chrome, and when I start a search, I get the results and the websites I can visit. I click on one of them, and then nothing, "This site is unreachable," "ERR_TIMED_OUT," even though I have internet since I can go on YouTube. I tried using Ethernet; it doesn't change anything. I checked the proxy and the firewall as indicated when starting the search, but it doesn't change anything. I tried sharing a 4G connection, and that doesn't work either, even though the internet works on all other devices in the house except for my laptop. I've had an Orange Livebox for a long time; I doubt the problem comes from there, but you never know. I'm not very good with computers, so if you have any answers to help me, that would be great! :)
Thanks in advance, and if you have any questions, feel free to ask!

Good evening!
I don't know about you, but after a little research, I found my way to the site https://www.driverscloud.com/ which allows you to check whether certain PC drivers need updating.
After running the detection, there was an update for the network card! It was released on 11/11/2016. It's possible that this is related to our problem; I just updated it, and I will get back to you tomorrow to confirm if there are any changes or not.

How to access driversCloud without a connection?
What’s surprising is that my connection works perfectly for my multiplayer games; only websites are blocked along with software like Skype.

I don't know how you could do it indeed, except by using another PC after checking the network driver you have on the problematic PC and its version. But for me, the update didn't change anything at all.
The only workable solution for now (that works for me at least) is to restart the PC every time the sites are inaccessible, which happens once in the morning and once in the evening.
But like you, I have access to my games and online, I was in the process of downloading a pretty large game all day, the download was still running, while the sites were no longer accessible.

Good evening,
Yesterday, for the second time, I faced this issue of being unable to connect to any website except YouTube and Google. I’m using Chrome on W8.1 x64 on an HP Pavilion. The first time, without any backup solutions, I completely rebooted my computer after saving the files that mattered to me on a USB. Today, I tried Malekal's solution to repair Chrome: it works!!!! YAY YAY TRALALABOOM. THANK YOU <3<3

We can go on the site with another PC, load the program that scans your config... transfer it with a USB stick... perform the operation on the implicated PC... and bring back the result with a USB stick to a PC that connects well... I admit, it's a bit cumbersome..
But I believe the connection works well on this PC, there are other criteria that hinder the resolution of the connection... for example, the contents of the "Host" file which contains a ton of sites to block... etc... and the DNS...
But as long as I don't have the complete view of IPconfig /all, we can't know...
Depending on the model of the ISP's BOX, it is also possible that the firewall mode of the BOX blocks certain things only on this PC.
But well, we don't know that either... You have to pry out every piece of information with a tire lever... So it gets tiring in the end..

Good evening Jeannets,
As requested, I'm attaching an "ipconfig /all" in the form of gyazo:
- https://gyazo.com/f0c8dac00a768283b2a1dbb3c0ca6260
Then regarding the DNS, I had tried to force them manually by using Google's and yours, mentioned above, but it didn't change anything; the bug came back.
For the internet box, I currently have a Livebox (for 4 days), because when the bug appeared, I was using a Freebox! The model is as follows: Livebox 4 ADSL from Sagemcom.
That's it! Hoping this helps you understand the issue. Thank you!

ok,
I looked at your two photos, your DNS server, I don't understand anything... it might be something that works with the new protocols from Orange...??? I don't know, but I've never seen that.. 2001.4860..???
And I strongly suspect that's what's causing chaos in your setup
For me, we go to IPV4, click on Properties and access the PC's IP and DNS configuration, we set it to static IP and configure the values... like this.
I even think I would disable IPV6 so that we only operate on IPV4
That's it for the PC
However, I don't know what there might be in a LiveBox 4 regarding ports and/or the BOX's firewall..
You do as you wish... but you can very well write down the values on a paper... make the changes, restart the PC and see what happens...
And if you are worried about something, you can always revert to the values noted on your paper.
I went to check, indeed, those are IPV6 values
Here are the values used by OpenDNS for IPV4 and IPV6
Primary DNS (IPv4): 208.67.222.222
Secondary DNS (IPv4): 208.67.220.220
Primary DNS (IPv6): 2620:0:ccc::2
Secondary DNS (IPv6): 2620:0:ccd::2

Hi! I've set your DNS, I'll get back to you tomorrow if there’s any news, I'll see tomorrow morning if I can still access the sites or not.
And for the IPv6 DNS I had, I set them a few days ago to see if it would change anything, I had read that the problem might come from that, but since I'm not using IPv6 it seemed strange to me. So for now I’ve disabled it as you advised me. :)

Thank you for your feedback and also for your congratulations...
That said, keep an eye out, as you probably picked this up during your web browsing... pages with malicious content embedded in ads or videos; or other
You could equip yourself with tools that will watch over you.
These are mainly extensions for FireFox:
uBlock, Wot, Blockulicious, Ghostery...
There are similar things for Chrome... But it’s important to know that Chrome is Google's baby and its purpose is to SELL... not to block ads... so the baby is mischievous.

Good evening,
You should open your post for your problem... Every PC is different due to its system in accordance with the hardware; added to how one uses it...
But while you wait for you to open your post, you can always do the same cleaning that is suggested here, it's a bit lengthy, it takes time, but it needs to be done... no one will do it for you, especially not through the forum.

If port 80 were blocked, you wouldn't have any web pages...
If it's about antivirus, it's because it has blacklisted the addresses of sites... Probably in the "Hosts" file
Go check this file C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts
It opens with Notepad... if it’s not in use... Anyway, you’ll find some URL addresses there... that must be related to your blocks...
You can selectively delete them, and it will work again.

It's not normal that you can't access your BOX through its IP address, even if you don't have internet...
In the browser 192.168.1.1 and you should have the homepage of your modem... What is your modem by the way on SFR fiber, it might be a F@st 3284..?? ..?? if you haven't changed anything, it's 192.168.0.1
--- You must have firewalls that prohibit a list of connections..? if you manage to ping Google ... You do ping 8.8.8.8 and you should get four lines of responses..
-- You still haven't answered my post No. 2 asking for the ipconfig...
I don't want the reading in your response, but a copy of what's on your screen..

OK, good for the capture. I assume it's with your laptop..??
The connection is working... it's not a network card problem.. on this PC
However, you didn't execute the command I asked for, double-check.. you just have to copy it down.. because you're missing some information..
You can do the same operation on the desktop PC and capture that too
Do you have two tunnel connections...??? What is it or for what..??
I also note that you're on Windows 10 on this PC... that's starting off poorly.. with network updates.. and the other one, what version of Windows is it..??
What is your Antivirus..?? and firewall..??

No, the capture was done via the desktop PC which is not working; I just transferred the screenshot via USB stick to my laptop.
I'll make another screenshot with the correct command on my desktop PC.
Windows 10 64-bit
My Antivirus & my firewall are the same as on my basic Windows Defender laptop...
