Television making a noise, humming

Hello,
My Sony LCD Digital Colour TV Bravia is emitting an unpleasant sound from the speakers and, of course, the headphone output as well. It is a continuous noise that is between bass and treble, which can be heard while only the TV is on (the TNT decoder is off, the HDMI cable is unplugged, there is no SCART cable, nothing else). I've tried plugging the electrical outlet elsewhere, but there was no change. Thank you for your help and suggestions. Of course, I can also change the TV... Best regards. Santorin

Configuration: Windows 7 / Chrome 54.0.2840.71

    Hello,

This appears to be what is called in electronics a "hum," a rather low-frequency noise resulting from parasitic induction from the power supply into the audio circuits.

Since this is undetectable in stores due to the presence of many powered devices, in addition to the sound being played, choosing a TV that is free of such noise is like playing Russian roulette.

It can even happen, quite surprisingly, as it is produced by alternating current on certain battery-operated media players.

The only solution I can think of is to test with friends to hear the noise their device makes (especially with headphones). Listening with headphones in a quiet environment should also allow for a valid test.

Personally, I have a Panasonic TV (plasma) on which I detect no hum, but I couldn't say what their current LCD production is like.

    Best regards
