Hello,
My name is Eric and I am new to the forum.
For about a week now, my personal computer (an Essential desktop) has a huge problem.
Every day now, when I turn it on, a few minutes later (sometimes just a few seconds), it keeps shutting down and then turning back on...
I searched everywhere online and I thought I understood that this kind of problem is often due to overheating issues (poor ventilation, etc...) So I decided to thoroughly check my computer and clean it, believing that the problem would be resolved. Unfortunately, that was not the case; the problem continued, even worsening.
The problem is quite variable; sometimes I can use my computer for 5 minutes before it shuts down, sometimes just 5 seconds (and that's not an expression). Sometimes, even Windows doesn't have time to start before my computer shuts down immediately.
After various... experiences, I was able to rule out several hypotheses regarding this problem.
Firstly, I thought that this problem was due to a faulty power supply (poorly connected power outlet), but in such cases, the computer will shut down but not turn back on by itself, so we can rule out that hypothesis.
I don't think it's also an overheating problem, more precisely a ventilation issue, because sometimes Windows doesn't even have time to start before the computer shuts down and then restarts.
I think this problem is due to a virus or something like that. I remember that I had this issue about a year ago (shortly after purchasing the computer). I had performed a system restore from a restore point (about 1 month prior) and the problem was fixed. I don't want to do a system restore again, especially if every time this 'virus' manages to reach my computer, I would prefer to know how to remove it.
I have tried various scans with CCleaner, AVG (my antivirus software), and others, but I find nothing. I even tried to scan my hard drives and repair them if necessary, but the scan and repair get stuck at 13%...
I thank you in advance for the responses to this problem, which is really very disturbing for me.
PS: Here is my configuration,
Operating System Name: Microsoft Windows 10 Home.
Version: 10.0.10586 Number 10586
Model: EB Dark'DESK 1004-2/B710
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-4460 CPU @ 3.20GHz, 3201 MHz, 4 core(s), 4 processors.
Graphics Card: GeForce GTX 960, NVIDIA compatible
Configuration: Windows / Firefox 49.0

Hi,
It might be due to a faulty RAM stick or
simply a stick that needs to be taken out and reinserted ;)
Try running it with just one stick and then the other (to rule out any doubts)?
Or switch them around.
This is to maneuver them in case of slight oxidation or improper seating...
