Hello,

I would like to change the Windows Installer service from "Manual" to "Automatic," but the startup type change checkbox is grayed out... I did open "services" as admin.

Any ideas? Thanks

    Hi,

    It must not be automatic.

Sometimes it is preferable, sometimes essential, for it to be stopped between each installation, right?

Why do you want it automatic?

In order for my antivirus server to deploy the antivirus package on it, on the other two Windows 10 PCs there was no problem—the service wasn't greyed out even though it's exactly the same model. And if I start it, it doesn't work (the service starts but not my package deployment), and for future updates it could be handy.

I mixed up Windows Installer and the remote registry modification service...

For information, on Windows 10 the remote registry modification service is disabled.
If you want to deploy packages or anything else, you need to enable it.
