How to protect your data after laptop theft?

Hello everyone,

I recently had my laptop stolen, which obviously contained private photos, important professional and personal documents. I know I won't get my laptop back, but I wanted to know if there is a way to remotely protect/delete important data to prevent any use that could harm me?
If that's not possible, do I need to take any steps (in addition to filing a report with the police) to protect myself against any use of my personal data against me?

Thank you in advance for your help!

Hello,
If you haven't installed any remote management software or procedures on your stolen PC (and provided that the thief connects to the Internet stupidly, of course), you cannot modify or delete your data remotely.
If you had banking information (account number, access code, or others), contact your bank.
For professional documents, check with your employer or business partners to assess the economic impact (including on intellectual or industrial property) of those documents. See if you can obtain copies confirming your rights from your colleagues.
As for personal matters, there are hardly any options for action, but unless there are directly usable compromising documents, it's not very interesting for the thief/thieves (unless you are a celebrity or known to these rogues).
Change your logins and passwords for online stores you visit, as well as for your tax/utility/ISP accounts and other providers.
It all depends on the thief's profile, whether they are curious and snooping or in a hurry to resell the hardware after resetting it.
I don't know any more than you do, but I'm looking into it.
