Hello,
I would like to know if a laser printer "suffers" from reduced usage? I'm asking this question because I'm tired of having to change my color ink cartridges simply because I use the printer once in a while, but each time, it's mostly the cleaning of the heads that consumes the ink.
And since the thing gets stuck as soon as one cartridge is empty...
So now, given the price of some laser printers, I'm thinking that this might be the solution. A salesperson told me that the toner doesn't dry out and doesn't cause clogging of nozzles or anything like that, but I would really like to hear from users in the same situation as me.
Thanks in advance. :-)

On a a laser, the problems you may encounter are mainly of 2 types:
- The cartridge/drum combos are too old and you experience a loss of sensitivity resulting in dull colors
- The transfer belt is too old and this often results in marks from the previous print.
But this is usually within 2 to 3 years, or even much longer... -
Hello,
I confirm the contrary opinion. Apart from the superiority of inkjet for printing photographic documents on special paper, I believe there is no comparison possible based on the criteria you mentioned. The cost per page is significantly lower. The time between two refills has greatly improved, even taking into account the use of refillable cartridges.
On a Brother Laser MFC-9440, however, I had to change (with difficulty) the carriage and the transfer belt, nearly 6 months after the alert (20,000 prints) appeared.
At most, one will have to shake the toner after a long period of inactivity, but I only did it to extend the life of one of the toners.
Furthermore, I regret that the refurbished toners delivered by Office Depot turned out to be defective and forced me, in addition to an exchange, to painstakingly clean the entire interior.
Therefore, it should be avoided as much as possible, especially since they refuse to take back non-original empty toners that they sold, forcing me to resort to the dedicated area at the dump.
However, it should be noted that these devices cannot be repaired, even at the Parisian workshops (Roissy) of the brand.
I use this printer on a daily basis, but I also have another Brother Laser (monochrome), which costs 40 euros, that I use at most once a month, but which had to remain inactive for a year.
Best regards.
