Hello, I can't configure the wifi on my Peekbox 4 500 Go. After applying wireless network, I can't access the SSID and network key configuration. Do you have a solution? Krob.
Configuration: Windows XP Internet Explorer 6.0

Hi
for those who can't connect to the wifi, it's simple: make sure your firewall isn't causing any obstacles, that's all, after that it works fine!!!

Thank you, feihung, for this clarification. Fortunately, there are people like you to set things right.
It's definitely easier to accuse people of posting nonsense than to try to improve things with PeekTon...
Also, funny way to respond to a zebulon topic on the ccm forum?!?
But since you have all the knowledge and never answer off point, it must be part of the best practices!

By the way, who was asking about the PB connection under Vista in this topic? I couldn't find it...

One last clarification, when you say "without changing firmware", I hope you're not counting on PEEKTON, because you should know that Christmas exists, but not Santa Claus ;o)
But you surely signed our petition to try to move things forward for PB4 owners!

Thanks again for your clarifications. I hope things are better for you now ;o)

See you later!

Here is what I did to connect the PB4 to a Wi-Fi network with Windows Vista:

ON YOUR PC:

1- Enable your guest account on Windows Vista:
Control Panel => User Accounts => Manage another account or Add or remove user accounts => Enable the guest account.

2- This step must be performed carefully.

---- For Windows Vista Home Basic or Premium (visual support: https://support.mvixusa.com/support/login.sas?serviceurl=%2Fsupport%2Fs%2FShowHomePage.do :

Start Menu => in Search (under All Programs), type regedit then press enter: the registry editor opens.

Go to the folder: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Lsa
Then double-click on the value 'everyoneincludesanonymous' and change '0' to '1', validate by OK.
Double-click on the value 'NoLmHash' and change '1' to '0', validate by OK.

Now go to the folder HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\LanManServer\Parameters
Then double-click on the value 'restrictnullsessaccess' and change '1' to '0', validate by OK.

Close the registry editor.

----For Windows Vista Basic (visual support: https://support.mvixusa.com/support/login.sas?serviceurl=%2Fsupport%2Fs%2FShowHomePage.do :

In the taskbar at the bottom right, right-click on your Wi-Fi network icon and open the Network and Sharing Center.

Enable file sharing.

Close the Network and Sharing Center window.

3-Open Windows Explorer and right-click on the folder you want to share.
Select 'share'.
In the sharing window, select the guest account from the drop-down menu, then click 'Add'.
Click now on Share.

Repeat the operation for each folder you want to share with the PB4.

Once steps 1-2-3 are finished, restart your PC.

ON THE PB4:

To connect your Peekbox 4 to your home network, you need to check the following points:

SETUP > NETWORK: AVAILABLE: WIRELESS
CONFIG IP ADDRESS: MANUAL
IP ADDRESS: 192.168.1.3 (the last digit is the number you assigned to the Peekbox on the network)
NETWORK MASK: 255.255.255.0 (most commonly)
GATEWAY: 192.168.1.254 (254 or 1, it is the IP address of the router on the network)

SETUP > WIRELESS: ESSID: name of your network (respecting capital letters and other characters)
CHANNEL: the channel number used by the router
WIFI SECURITY: AUTOMATIC
WEP ENCRYPTION: WEP (if you are using a WEP key with your network)
WEP KEY: enter your WEP key here (if necessary)
WIFI APP: press ENTER to connect the Peekbox to the network.

If the message SUCCESSFUL appears, your Peekbox is connected.
If the message FAILED appears, try connecting by disabling WEP encryption on your Wi-Fi network.

If you are unsure of the IP configuration you entered, you can perform an Ethernet connection in Auto mode to be sure of the addresses. Then keep the automatic configuration by only modifying the 'wireless' availability.

Once you have configured the PC and the PB4, select 'REFRESH', you should see the shared folders of the computer appear on the PB4.

To Brupala: you are right, that’s why I posted the solution above. However, I am disappointed that you say I criticize without evidence because I have several in addition to the link I provided the first time. Understand me, after searching and landing on forums where the only answers were about the petitions while the main topic was not that, I was furious and this caused my post in this forum. Just in this thread, you can see that responses 9, 10, 11, 14, 16, 23, 25 are almost the same; one would have been enough. If you think I wrote my message because I had nothing else to do at this hour in the evening, I can’t say anything...
Finally, when you say I brag, I hope it's an interpretation of my syntax that makes you think that, surely it’s me who chose the wrong words...

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

To Patate34: Know that I responded on this forum because this site is one of the most visited and shows up among the first when you search on Google. Moreover, tekelus (post no. 7 of this topic) asked for help on Vista => response to your question 'who asked about connecting PB 4 under Vista in this topic, I didn't find....'
So I notice that even in this topic, you only read a few words, hence the question above to which I responded^^ and then when you write:
'Last precision, when you say "without changing firmware", I hope you are not counting on PEEKTON, because one must know that Christmas exists, but not Santa Claus ;o)'
I just have to tell you: reread what I wrote:
'So for those who want to connect their PB4 to the Wi-Fi network with Windows Vista, tell me, I’ll explain how to do it.
(only reading files from the PC with the PB4, the opposite not being possible yet without changing firmware)'
which means that I will explain how to read files from the PC with the PB4, as the opposite is not possible without changing the firmware; I don't know how you read it...

Finally, no, I have not signed the petition, it seems that the PB4 MK2 is in preparation, and I do not know of any company that has yielded to a petition while a similar product will soon enter the market.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Last thing: the person who marked post no. 31 of Patate34 as useful, I do not know on what criteria he decided this.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Finally, for those who are unable to read their shared files from their PC with their PB4, say more about your configuration, I might BE ABLE to help you... I hope to have already helped you with my post.

Bye

Hello feihung

For my part, I have the same problem except that my PC is running XP Home, so I managed to modify in the registry editor:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Lsa
Then double-click on the 'everyoneincludesanonymous' value and change the '0' to '1', confirm by clicking OK.
Double-click on the 'NoLmHash' value and change the '1' to '0', confirm by clicking OK.

However, under XP Home the folder appears but not
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\LanManServer\Parameters
But the value "restrictnullsessaccess" is missing???

Do you have a solution for XP Home?

Thanks for all your explanations.

Actually, my procedure applies to Windows Vista. I don't know if it works for XP.
However, there is one for XP in the manual provided with the Peekbox (page 66).
As indicated by nono in the first 2 posts: installation of NetBios and NetBEUI protocols.

Normally it should work.;)

Hi

thank you for your information regarding the Wi-Fi reading of the Peekton 4. After quite a bit of research, I finally managed to connect my computer to the Peekton via Wi-Fi.

Can you help me visualize the Peekton 4 on my computer?

Thanks in advance.

Hello!
I'm sorry to tell you this, but it's impossible to 'view' the peekbox 4 files on the PC.
Only the opposite is possible, which is to 'view' the PC files on peekbox 4.

Best regards.

Hello, yes applicable solution like for me.
To ensure already it is necessary to:
the wifi ssid (router or freebox)
then the key (if there is one)
in the network settings you need to choose wired or wifi
auto ip address

On the wifi settings side, you need to check:
if the channel is the same as that of the router (otherwise switch to auto)
make sure if it’s wep or not for the network key

It’s after in run (windows: I did a "cmd"
to do a ping test (for the ip address of the peekbox 4)

ping 192.168.0.?? < IP to my Peekbox

Sending a 'ping' request to 192.168.0.10 with 32 bytes of data:

Reply from 192.168.0.10: bytes=32 time<1ms TTL=128
Reply from 192.168.0.10: bytes=32 time<1ms TTL=128
Reply from 192.168.0.10: bytes=32 time<1ms TTL=128
Reply from 192.168.0.10: bytes=32 time<1ms TTL=128

Ping statistics for 192.168.0.??: < IP to my Peekbox
Packets: sent = 4, received = 4, lost = 0 (loss 0%),
Approximate round trip times in milliseconds:
Minimum = 0ms, Maximum = 0ms, Average = 0ms

Additionally, it is necessary to install the network protocols: (page 177 of 446 pdf file)
NWlink IPX/SPX/NETBIOS
it is necessary to look for the guests (page 179 of 446 pdf file)
The last network protocol: (page 181 of 446 pdf file)
NETBEUI

Hello,

Are you satisfied with your PeekBox?
I read that you cannot copy files to the PeekBox via Wi-Fi, is that true?

I am looking for the documentation in PDF format, can someone send it to me?
My email: stephnews2 at gmail.com

Thank you in advance.

Hello everyone,

I have a Peekbox 4 with Wi-Fi connected to 3 PCs running Vista (ouch, ouch)

Despite all my efforts, I am unable to communicate between the Peekbox and the PCs.
(Wi-Fi APP successfully set up on Peekbox)

In CMD, the Ping command on my Peekbox works well with good response times.

I think it must be a sharing issue.

Regarding sharing (all my PCs communicate well with each other. Guest mode activated + permissions OK on PCs)
Firewall disabled on Vista as well as on the FreeBox router

I really don't understand what's wrong.

Could it be due to the fact that Vista doesn't have NetBeui capability (provided on the Peekbox CD for XP) which would render the Wi-Fi mode incompatible with Vista?

Ps: Let’s hear it, gentlemen, I’m waiting for your brains to help me out :p

Hi

it's just a network issue. You need to go to the ximeta website to download the NDAS protocol

Catch you later!

It would be a shame for this peekbox to only work with netbeui.
It is likely that it should work with IP, maybe activate netbios on tcpip.

Here is Peekton's response regarding the impossibility of getting the Peekbox 4 to appear in Windows Vista:

Hello,

Your network configuration does not depend on the operating system of the computers connected to it.

However, access to certain information may vary depending on your equipment.

To connect your Peekbox 4 to your home network, you need to check the following points:

SETUP > NETWORK: AVAILABLE: WIRELESS
IP CONFIG: MANUAL
IP ADDRESS: 192.168.1.3 (the last digit is the number you assign to the Peekbox on the network)
NETWORK MASK: 255.255.255.0 (most often)
GATEWAY: 192.168.1.254 (254 or 1, this is the IP address of the router on the network)

SETUP > WIRELESS: ESSID: your network name (respecting uppercase and other characters)

If the SUCCESS message appears, your Peekbox is connected.
If the FAILURE message appears, try connecting by disabling WEP encryption on your Wifi network.

If you are unsure of the IP configuration you entered, you can make an Ethernet connection in Auto mode to ensure the addresses are correct. Then keep the automatic configuration while only changing the "wireless" availability.

You can check the connection of your Peekbox from your PC:

Start > Run and type "cmd" then Enter.
Then, in the black window, type: ping 192.168... (IP address of your Peekbox on the network).

If all ping packets are received correctly, then your Peekbox is connected to the network.

Folders must be shared from your computers and accessible to guests.

Then you need to perform a "REFRESH" from the navigation menu of your Peekbox.

Feel free to contact us by phone at 0820.03.03.03 for more information.

However, if despite these checks, your Peekbox does not connect to your network, it may be defective.

Bonjour,
Hello, I have a problem that if I type in my SSID I cannot use the sign "_" but that is part of my SSID. What can I do?

Sorry for not speaking and writing in French.

However, it is important to be aware that it is impossible to access the PEEKBOX 4 via WIFI from your PC.
The manufacturer has not implemented the NDAS system, in other words, the ability to transfer/delete/modify files via wifi or ethernet port... Q.E.D.
For more information, you can visit the following forum:
https://forum.hardware.fr/hfr/VideoSon/Materiel/topic-peekbox-peekton-sujet_99464_1.htm

or consult the online petition (and even sign it...):
https://www.mesopinions.com/petition/

I think you will understand a lot of things and the justification for our actions towards Peekton...

Hoping to count you among us!!!

Bonjour,
https://www.mesopinions.com/petition/
