Hello,
I received this message when attempting to open a Word file attached in my email.
It was supposedly sent by someone I trust (a notary).
I don't understand why this incident is happening because although I have OFFICE 2000 Premium, I've never had this kind of problem with older versions until now.
I even reinstalled the ConverterHelper3Setup.exe software that is supposed to fix this kind of issue.
I checked with my old files: all open normally.
Could I have come across a corrupted file (from Word 97 - 2003)?
I also tried changing .doc to .docx: no change.
Could I have a virus that my antivirus software isn't detecting?
I do have Windows XP, but my version is still being updated automatically.
The Microsoft website states that there are no more updates for the general public.
What should I do?
I don't know what to do.
Please help me!
Thank you in advance.
Configuration: Windows XP / Firefox 48.0

Hello Genia,
"although having OFFICE 2000 Premium"
Isn't it rather Office 2010?
In any case, it is certainly not a virus. Your notary may have sent you a poorly saved document.
Changing the extension (.doc to .docx) from Windows won't work because files have been encoded very differently since version 2007. This can be done through a "Save As" or from the [File] tab | "Convert". But for that, you need to be able to open it first ;-)

Thank you C-Claire.
Indeed, it must have come from the sent file.
Because I informed the sender that it was damaged. They sent me another one and this time there was no problem opening it!
I was very scared, as some were saying it was a "ransomware" that starts by destroying file addresses.
Stop panicking!
I hope I won't have any more anomalies of the same kind, because I will start worrying seriously...
Thank you so much for your help
