Hello.

I'm reaching out because I'm looking for Acrobat Distiller. A while ago, I was still using this software to reduce the size of PDF files.
Since then, I switched companies and no longer have Distiller. As I sometimes deal with large files (raster images and vector files), I thought I would try to lighten them... But after some research on Adobe's site, I can't find any better reference to this software than a page for downloading updates...

So I wanted to know if anyone knows how to obtain Distiller? Is it part of a software package (as Adobe does so well)? Is it available on its own???

Thank you in advance for your help.

If the complete version has been installed, you should also have it in version 7.0

The program should be located in the folder: Program files/Adobe/Acrobat 7.0/Distiller/Acrodist.exe

It should also be in the list of programs in the "start" menu

However, the Distiller configuration is also accessible through the properties of the PDF printer. You can create your profiles there and make them specific according to your preferences (web, mail, print, etc.)

However, there are some settings that you do not have access to in this way, such as the font folders (which are then configured by default).

Indeed, I found it (well hidden) and now I can try to lighten my files (that would be nice anyway).

Thanks again for all these indications!

The parameters you can adjust to lighten the files are:

- The compression rate and the compression mode (JPG being the most) for images and drawings

- The color mode (RGB or better grayscale if color is not needed)

- The embedding of fonts (reduce and don't embed if the recipient does not need them and uses a PDF reader that can substitute non-embedded fonts.
