Good evening everyone,
I intend to overclock my processor myself, so which version should I choose? Does the little "K" mean that the processor is already overclocked or is it overclockable? Without the "K," can it still be overclocked from the BIOS of the motherboard?

    Good evening,

    The "K" version is the unlocked version of the processor.
    The "K" version processor runs at the same frequency as its non-unlocked counterpart but allows for overclocking from the motherboard's UEFI (non-overclocked, but overclockable).

    The version without the "K" cannot be overclocked from the UEFI (non-overclocked, non-overclockable from the UEFI).

      It's an Asus B150 Pro Gaming with Intel B150 Express chipset.

      Correct me if I'm wrong because there have already been several versions of this motherboard and I'm not up to date.

      I think this motherboard has a lot of options to improve gaming quality and performance, but it doesn't have the capability to overclock the 6700K CPU. There's no way to change the multiplier, which will stay at 4 GHz with a maximum of 4.2 GHz on the turbo-boosted cores. It's not like before with the 6th generation Intel CPUs.
      In this case, it would be better to go for the 6700 without the K, which will be cheaper and have the same performance on this motherboard as the 6700K.
      The nice software will only show the values and performance but won't give access to advanced overclocking settings.

      To overclock, you should get a Z motherboard and a K processor. I believe it's slightly more expensive.

      To put it simply, a motherboard based on the Intel B150 chipset does not allow overclocking. If you want to overclock your CPU, you need to choose a motherboard powered by a Z170.
