The i3 is much more powerful than the Celeron. Indeed, the i3 has 2 physical cores and four logical cores, which makes it more efficient for handling somewhat heavier data processing, whereas the Celeron does not have this feature.

Some Celerons have up to 4 physical cores, so it's not the number of cores that gives the i3 its power compared to the Celeron. It's mainly that the cores of the i3 are much more efficient. With the same number of cores and the same frequency, an i3 is therefore much more powerful.
And then the fact that i3s feature "hyper-threading" technology (explained by Zozo, of course), which means that compared to most Celerons that only have 2 cores, the i3s can have up to 4. This allows them, in addition to having more efficient cores, to increase their computing power.
