Normally, you can find your conversations in doc format.
They are automatically saved in "My Documents", then "My conversation archives".
But you do need to make sure that you haven't disabled automatic archiving...

"Messenger Plus!" is a program that you can install apart from Messenger; it's kind of like an add-on that gives you many more possibilities, including the ability to find your archived conversations. Unfortunately, you don't have it, so... it's no longer possible to retrieve your MSN conversations.

You can disable whatever you want on your PC, the conversations are still recorded.... Read the license agreements carefully before installing any software.
