Hello,

I have an Asus T100 Transformer Book.
In preparation for selling it, I would like to reformat it to remove all personal data.
I purchased it with Windows 8.1 and upgraded it to Windows 10. If I reformat, will I keep W10 or will I need to reinstall it with the same access codes?
Similarly, I have the Office pack for 12 months; if I reformat, will I lose it? (It's the Office pack version that came with the computer; I bought it just a few months ago).

Thank you for your help,

Laure

Configuration: iPad / Safari 5.1

    Hello.
If I reformat, will I keep W10 or will I be able to reinstall it with the same access codes?

Yes, it's Windows 10 that will reappear if you reset, anyway
now Microsoft has registered the W10 key in the BIOS, if you reinstall W10, it will activate automatically.
During the formatting, you will be offered two formatting options, you should choose the more thorough one, the longer one if you want to be sure to erase your data so that it is unrecoverable.
For the Office suite, either you have the license key provided with it and you re-enter it during reinstallation, or you extract it from the PC with a product key tool and copy it to enter it when reinstalling the Office suite that you download from the internet.
The suite is available for free download, but if you don't have a key, you cannot use it.

    Thank you for your response.
I started creating an installation media because without it the computer refuses to reformat. I hope it works :-)

Remember to back up your important personal data.
    And your license numbers
As well as your passwords, do you have Firefox or Thunderbird?

I believe I have neither. I click on Microsoft Edge
I downloaded the 32-bit installation file (Asus T100 with Windows 10 Home) from the internet onto a USB stick.
When I connect the USB stick to the PC and start it, nothing happens. Online articles say that the Windows installation window should launch at startup, but nothing.
When I go to settings, I still can't initiate the reset; it tells me I need the installation media.
    Thanks again.

You need to plug the USB key into your open Windows PC.

    Do: restart.
When restarting, when the first ASUS or other image appears, press the escape key which should bring up a boot menu.
Select the USB key using the arrow keys on the keyboard and press enter.
    The installation menu should appear.
Prefer a local account to a Microsoft account, no need to enter a password.

Thank you. I tested it and nothing happens when I press escape or f10,11.
Should I click on set up in the file on my USB drive? Should I reformat it and redownload the installation file? Is the 32-bit file the correct one?

If you want to know if your system is 32-bit, right-click on the Windows icon, then System, it's written there.
