Integrate "some" photos into a shape (InDesign)

Hello everyone

I'm looking, as indicated in the title, to merge several photos through a shape in InDesign. I've searched quite a bit through online tutorials and apparently, there's nothing to chew on.

I've tried to group my photos and then select everything, including the shape, and then use the pathfinder, but nothing works. I'm a bit out of ideas, thank you for your help.

An idea:

Since you want to hide part of your images to only show a reduced surface... Place a white surface (or any color you want) on top and extrude the desired surface from it using the Pathfinder.

You won't touch your images, but you'll create a mask that you place on top...
