How to crop an image into a circle?

Question

Hello,
I would like to cut out a photo or an element from a photo in a diameter of 25mm to put it in a cabochon :)

I can make a circle on Pixlr but I cannot enter a measurement in mm!

Can you help me? I don't have Photoshop and would prefer to do this on an online software, like Pixlr.

To summarize, I would like to create a 25mm circle that I can move over the photo to select the element I am interested in.

Good evening,  I don't have Photoshop and would rather do this on an online software  Photoshop wouldn’t give you anything more, and for this matter, it’s like using a hydrogen bomb to kill a flea larva. Just take the old free PhotoFiltre, the new version is even better, make a round selection of about 25 mm, copy it, go to the image where this circle should be placed, and with the "Paste Inside" plugin, you paste it. You just need to save because it’s done. I don’t know if you’ll find what you’re looking for online... So I just tried... but I'm stuck again on the dimension! How do I make a circle of 25mm? I type 2.5 cm, but the circle doesn't end up being that size...

It's like "before", I can select the part of the image I’m interested in circularly, but I can’t make that circle 2.5 cm (or 25mm then ;))

Grrrr, not so simple ;)

Hello,

You make an elliptical selection around what you want to set at 25mm, you paste it onto another layer, you set the dimension to 25mm and then you paste it wherever you want.

If you've downloaded the plugins, you just make a round selection, copy it, go to the other image/layer, make a selection in the frame if it's a frame for example or a circle and paste it inside...

No, I haven't downloaded the plug-in because I don't see what it can bring me. The thing is I make an elliptical selection, paste it on a white background, go to "image size" and set it to 2.5cm, and then I get a rectangle and my circle becomes oval!!!

Well, I'll try to keep it simple and broken down....

- Open the image you want to paste onto.
- Open a new background but transparent and make it square with equal dimensions, 500x500 for example.
Go back to the image where you need to copy a circle.
- While holding down the Shift key (to make a perfect circle and not ovoid or oval), make your selection.
- Copy what is inside the circle onto your square layer.
- Crop your square so that it is just at the edge of the circle.
- Set this crop to 2.5x2.5.
- Go back to the other image and, just to be safe, open a new layer.
- Select your transparent layer with the circle inside and copy it.
- Go to the other image and paste it onto the new blank layer and position it.

Well, I am desperately terrible!
I do everything you say but there’s something that’s not right: the image, in the end, NEVER measures 2.5 cm! Why???

The image that needs to be 2.5cm should be round, in a square layer or cropped in square around the round part and then resized to 2.5x2.5, but you must first go through the square stage; otherwise, you'll end up with a pretty rectangle and a non-round image: it is not the layer that needs to be 2.5 cm but the image...
In short, if we knew exactly what to do with this image, we would certainly have a clearer understanding and the explanations would consequently be more precise...

What I want to do with this image is simply to cut out my daughter's face, print it, and place it in a cabochon (jewelry), that's it!!
And the cabochon support measures 2.5cm.

I've also put it in a square!
Here's what I do:
I open my daughter's image
I create a new "image" 500 x 500, transparent
I make the circle on the image where my daughter is
I copy it into the new transparent image (the one that is 500x500)
I right-click and change the size to 2.5cm
Already there, I can see that it is not 2.5 cm!!!!
I copy this image and paste it elsewhere and then I notice that it measures 1.88cm...

We misunderstood each other: everything needs to be read.
I wrote that the round image should be pasted into a square layer or cropped exactly square so that this image measures 2.2x2.5, that is to say like this:

I arrive at the same result as you ;) But... when I measure the circle on my screen, it doesn't measure 2.5 cm. Same goes for your screenshot.
(and when I copy it into WORD to check, it's a square again! It's just incomprehensible)
Well, maybe it'll be 2.5 when printed...

For the record, on screen, if I take my tape measure, the circle measures 1.8cm :) And printed: 2.8cm... But not 2.5! aaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrggggggggggggg!
