    Hello everyone,

I can't connect my Xbox 360 to my PC (running Vista) with an RJ45 cable (IP address recognition problem and the computer doesn't recognize the console !!!!)

Thank you in advance for your help.

To share multimedia, you need to use Windows Media Player 11. Activate the file sharing option, and your console will detect the PC. However, Media Player 11 isn't great; the best way is to share files with the Tversity media server. However, for that, you need to configure the Windows firewall so that the PC can communicate with the 360.
With Tversity, you can play photos, music, videos, DivX, RSS feeds, etc.
For videos and DivX, the software converts the file to the Xbox 360 format in real-time; Tversity is awesome!
If you have any problems, just let me know.

Yes, for me in Media Player 11, when I'm in the options for sharing on my PC, my Xbox is not listed in the sharing options!

I can connect to my PC via Media Center, but on my Xbox when I want to connect to directly access my photos, it doesn't work!

How can I get my Xbox to appear in the sharing options?
      P.S. I no longer have a firewall.

        Hello penssy,

To have your Xbox show up as a "media sharing device," you must:

        - Have a Windows XP Media Center 2005 or Windows Vista
        - Go to '' http://www.xbox.com/pcsetup and download the extender corresponding to your version of Windows.
        - Finally, after downloading it, go to Windows Update and search for updates (to download the required packages).

Even if your ports are not open, the 360 will appear as a media sharing device.

You will also need to open at least the following ports:
        88 (for Xbox Live)
        3074 (for Media Center 360)
Lastly, check the rules listed in the XP/Vista firewall (even if it is disabled) to open the corresponding ports on your firewall/router as well)

There you go, it's not that hard ;)

      Hello ViRUZ404,

I followed everything you said, but I still can't find the Xbox in the device sharing... It's really starting to get on my nerves....
However, I don't know which updates to download since I have basic Home Windows Vista... (I've downloaded almost all the updates on Windows Update). So I hope you can shed more light on this for me.
      Best regards, Aceral.

For me, it's the opposite... my 360 recognizes the PC; the proof is that I can use Media Center on the console, but on my PC, there's no trace of the Xbox, so I feel like the possibilities are rather limited. Can someone come to my rescue????

    Hello Solid Snake ^^

Did you download the extension at the address: http://www.xbox.com/pcsetup

Depending on your version of Windows, just download the right one; but you'll also need to install .NET Framework 1.0 and 1.1 and 2.0 with their updates from Windows Update, there you go ^^

To watch movies through the console's media center, you need Windows XP Media Center 2005 or Vista (including media center); otherwise, you can always watch them from the My Xbox > My Videos tab.

    Happy downloading ;)
