I have a MLR FX 312 GPS on my sailboat. It has always worked well, but lately I've noticed the following two issues:
- as soon as I turn off the GPS, it loses the memory of the two loggers, which I find at 0 when I turn it back on
- it takes a long time to acquire satellites (about 30 to 45 minutes), then it works very well
Question: is there a link between the two issues?
If so, what is it and how can it be fixed?

CAUTION this is not a memory backup battery but a 0.47μF 5V5 backup capacitor. Precautions must be taken before replacing the capacitor as there is a risk of damaging surrounding components if you use any soldering iron.
If you are interested, my company has a great habit of performing repairs on the FX 312, FX312XC, and FX412.
