Gigaset A58: mirrored display

Hello,
The screen of this Gigaset A58h Siemens cordless phone shows “mirror image”: top to bottom and left to right.
As a result, when you dial a number, it also dials the number backwards (puts the last digit first).
Simple solution?

    Actually, I foolishly took the battery out of the handset and put it back in, and it works.
    Don’t look too much for an explanation.
