Hello,
I have retrieved an iMac Core 2 Duo 2.66 20-Inch model A1224.
I would like to know which OS originally runs on this machine, and where to find it.
Thank you for your help.

Hello,
An iMac model A1224 corresponds to one of the iMacs produced between mid-2007 and mid-2009.
And since it is a 2.66 GHz model, it could belong to the early 2008 or early 2009 range.
Both of these models support the latest version of OS X, which is OS X 10.11, also known as El Capitan.
However, ideally, the Mac should be equipped with 8 GB of RAM to avoid sluggish performance.
The early 2008 model supports a maximum of 6 GB even though Apple states it only supports 4 GB.
The early 2009 model supports 8 GB, which is better.
OS X 10.11 El Capitan is available for free from the App Store. This application is included in the Applications folder starting from Mac OS X 10.6.
In any case, you must first go through Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard).
But you can also install Mac OS X 10.7 or 10.8, which are still available for €19.99 on the App Store as well.
