Hello everyone,

The user will never admit that it was her who accidentally moved one of her folders with a mouse drag, and since I feel it's too early to bring up the tree command, she's going to waste quite a bit of time on this.

Do you see a way to freeze a directory structure without actually prohibiting the creation, modification, deletion, or moving of files within it?

It would be nice if this could be done by adjusting a permission that I haven't thought of. It would definitely be simpler than programming a FolderWatcher...

Oh, but how silly of me, it's actually simple: you need to go to the advanced settings in the security tab of the root directory of the tree you want to process, create a rule for the user(s) concerned that prohibits them from deleting the directory. If necessary, check to make the subdirectories inherit this rule.

    And that's it.

Aside from that, I created an interface in a help file for selecting the most common directories because I don't find the Vista explorer very practical in this regard, but that may be off-topic.
