Hello, I have my Neuf box connected to my computer via Ethernet and my TV via powerline adapter. When I want to connect my TV (Philips Series 4000) to Wi-Fi through my smart TV, the TV's configuration only shows the wired network and doesn't allow me to access the wireless option. Can you help me finally get internet and other services on my TV, please?

    Good evening,

    Read well what is written:

    https://www.philips.fr/c-p/42PFL4007H_12/4000-series-smart-tv-a-led-avec-pixel-plus-hd

Easy wireless connection with an optional wireless USB adapter Enjoy the Smart TV function with the Philips Wi-Fi-USB adapter (PTA01) for Smart TV. Just plug it into the USB port located on the side of your television to connect it directly to your home network. Browse your favorite websites using your television's remote control.

This gadget is optional... and if I read correctly, it's not just any USB stick, it's theirs, a PTA01

I admit I have already met fans of this thing with an additional card costing over €100... and it didn't work well...
Since you are in a setup with fixed equipment; I advise you to use a high-quality wired connection...
Second, the powerline connection... if you have difficulties, you need to be very perfectionist about the quality of the cabling... But it almost always works in the presence of a rigorous and disciplined installation..

Wi-Fi should really be a last resort, only if you have no other options..

But well, it's up to you..

Thank you for your quick response, but since I have my computer and my box in my bedroom and the TV in the living room, I have no choice but to buy the USB adapter PTA01 to get Wi-Fi on my TV...

    Yes, you have a choice...

    - Install an RJ45 cable from your Box to your TV

    - Use a pair of powerline adapters through power outlets, between your Box and your TV

    - Use WiFi as a last resort.

    I don’t think it’s any more expensive...

Of course, I'm aware that this installation may seem complicated and unsightly to you.. It depends, I don’t know the layout of your house.. But quite often it’s possible to use the existing electrical conduits in the walls or to go through the closets..?

In any case, the powerline solution doesn’t require any additional wires in the house since they use the 220V to carry the signals, superimposed on the 220...

Don’t forget that the signals for the TV go through your BOX... Even if you stream a movie from your PC to your TV...
    The path is: PC----->BOX----->TV

It’s always the BOX that is the central point.

I installed the powerline adapters from the beginning, one for my box and one for my TV, but even with that, I still can't get the smart TV.
When I try to configure the network on my TV, in the menu I can only access the wired network but not the wireless one.

      OK,

The powerline connection is exactly considered as a wired Ethernet connection, so it needs to be configured like a wired network.

-- You have two powerline adapters, one is behind your router plugged as close to the wall as possible and also connected to an output of your router via an RJ45 cable.

      - The other one is near your TV, as close to the wall socket as possible... and also connected by an RJ45 cable, between your TV and your powerline adapter...

--- In this system, everything runs through the wires, there’s nothing transmitted via waves and it cannot be considered as Wi-Fi... However, it doesn’t like stacks of power strips, it should be in the first position of the wall socket... But it works well if the installation is "clean."

I just contacted SFR support and actually, it's my Neufbox that is not compatible for having internet on my TV, so I need to change the model of my Neufbox.
I will ask SFR to get a more recent and high-end model to access the media center.

    Hello,

I'm not entirely convinced by SFR's arguments... I'm also a contributor on the SFR forum... Personally, I have an old NeufBox NB4 and it works...

So, being able to access the Internet on your TV is an internet function and not a media center... They only have two boxes, the NB4 and the NB6 called "Évolution," and then there's the TV decoder... but in your case, it's the TV that performs the DLNA and MediaCenter functions along with the TV decoder... so if your TV is connected via cable or powerline, it should work, at least in media center mode...

Let me explain... apart from SFR's internet or TV services, you should be able to watch a movie that is on your PC on your TV that is connected to your internal network...
I would even go further... you can access your PC's drive from your TV using the remote and choose the movie... if your PC is properly set up with UPnP and a DLNA server that works with your TV...

It's important to understand that not everyone has a TV subscription with SFR, and yet these people watch their movies and photos on their TV... and it works without SFR or anyone else, it's the same...

For SFR multimedia to work, they will have you install their "MediaCenter" program on your PC; which requires you to keep your PC turned on as long as you want to watch...

Depending on your version of Windows, you may already have that built into your PC

    A little reading..

    Hello,

you are indeed right, they asked me to install the "media center" program and a person I spoke to in the support chat told me that it was my NB4 Box that wasn't compatible for that. So, I'm supposed to receive the Evolution Box (NB6), a completely free equipment upgrade, fortunately, lol.
I'll see if it works with an Evolution Box at my place, but since you told me it works for you with the same Box I currently have (NB4), I must have another issue.
On my PC, I have Windows 10 installed...

      Hello,

In any case, the NB6 BOX is an upgrade; it’s more sophisticated and allows for other possibilities (although some have been removed), and it’s also smaller.
However, I don’t see in what way it would be compatible and the other one wouldn’t... It has the "n" WIFI that the other one doesn’t have... but that doesn’t change anything for the video... ... You’ll see.

I have a NB4; I don’t use the WiFi, but wired connections, and I don’t have SFR's TV subscription... however, I still receive TV over the internet very well with another type of DLNA... so... that’s not the issue... besides, I have a media server (without needing the PC to be on) and I can see my photos or videos from anywhere...
