Hello,
My Thunderbird trash has disappeared, so I can no longer delete messages or subfolders. I followed the Mozilla tutorial, which suggests recreating a "Trash" folder, but that doesn't work: the "delete" button is unusable, and I also can't empty the trash if I fill it via drag & drop. What should I do? Thank you for your help!

Hello, you need to open your Thunderbird mail client. In the top left, you should see your email address, on which you right-click with your mouse. A list will appear, including "new folder," where you enter 'trash' and your trash can will reappear.
Following a JAVA update, my trash can had disappeared. While searching on the forums, I followed this procedure and it worked for me.
Happy reinstalling.
Best regards

This time it's done! I was able, by copying and pasting from the "trash" found in another Thunderbird file, to restore a trash can in the mail directory of my Google "server," which now seems to be recognized as it should.
Thank you, unity is strength, or as Philippe Meirieu says: it's together that we achieve better than alone!
A thousand thanks again!

Thank you, Dubcek, but it is indeed this tutorial "https://support.mozilla.org/fr/kb/vous-ne-pouvez-pas-supprimer-des-messages" that I am talking about: I followed all the steps of the procedure indicated, but the recreated trash is not recognized as such. The "delete" button still does not work. I am no further along!
Hello,
I followed all these steps, but I have a problem that I can't find anywhere else... I create the new trash folder, everything is fine, the bin reappears, it works. I close Thunderbird, and it has disappeared again; I have to create a new trash folder every time I open Thunderbird. On Gmail, where my emails are, I can see the bin containing lots of files that I have deleted, but when I recreate the new trash folder, it is empty, and I can only access what I deleted by going through Gmail via Firefox.
Also, I created a folder called "test" a long time ago, which is still in Thunderbird, but I can't delete it even when the bin is there, and it is nowhere to be found on Gmail via Firefox... Does anyone know what to do? Thanks.

Hello wppk!
Your question seems like a response to a question I had previously asked. My question has been resolved since then, and the topic is closed.
Your issue is a bit different from mine.
I think you need to reiterate your request by asking a question - instead of replying to mine - which will open a new topic and bring you help from users more knowledgeable than I am!
Good luck!
Best regards.

Thank you very much for taking an interest in my problem, but it is resolved, as you can read above. The "create a new folder" function was not working, the new recycle bin was not recognized. But a copy-paste as indicated by Dubcek worked. I would like to close the topic, but I can't find the right button!
Best wishes, and thanks again!
if only!!.....while I was despairing reading some incomprehensible procedures for me!! Thanks again DAN66
