Can I connect a PS4 to a computer monitor?

Hello!

I had an idea for Christmas to buy a PS4 and set it up on my desk with a PC monitor. But here are my questions:

Which monitor should I choose? Should I aim for a "gaming" monitor since I will be playing on it? (I don't know because I'm not setting up a PC but a PS4 ^^)

What about sound? Can I connect the speakers to the monitor or to the PS4? (Sorry if my questions are dumb, but I don't have a desktop PC at home :/).

And finally: Does playing on a PC monitor end up being the same as playing on a TV? (with the same display resolution, of course).

Thanks! ;)

Good evening,
You can definitely use a computer monitor; I think the best option is to connect the PS4 via HDMI to it.
Regarding which monitor to choose, I can recommend the Asus VS278Q or any other monitor with similar technical specifications; the main point, in my opinion, is the response time, especially if you plan to play FPS games (like Call of Duty); the lower the number of milliseconds, the better you will be able to aim (and the monitor I mentioned has a response time of 1 ms).
For sound, it's best to connect the speakers to the console via an optical cable.
Finally, I would say that playing on a computer monitor is essentially the same... but better; generally, monitors have better display quality, better response times, etc., at the same price; but usually, they are smaller, and since they don't have a TV tuner, well, there won't be any TV at all.
I hope this helps you :)

Yes, thank you very much! :)

But connecting your console with an HDMI or VGA cable comes down to the same thing in the end? (Because I learned that VGA doesn't handle sound, and anyway if I connect the speakers directly to the console. Well, there you go...) ^^

If it's only for the image, then no, there shouldn't be any difference between HDMI and VGA, as both handle the resolution 1920*1080 :)
