File transfer to Toshiba hard drive

Hello,

I have a problem with transferring files from my MacBook Air to the 1TB Toshiba external hard drive.
Recently, I had my laptop cleaned, and since then, I haven't been able to transfer files as usual. The Toshiba drive is new and has plenty of free space. I don't understand what happened.

Could you help me explain how I can resolve this issue?

    Is the disk new? How was it formatted before transferring files/folders onto it?
    Is it as delivered upon purchase? If so, please read this document which contains all the explanations.
