Hello,

I have a Packard Bell EasyNote LE laptop.
When I use the "Shift" key, there is no visual indication to know if I am in uppercase or lowercase.
Do you have a solution to address my request, please?
On other computers, there is often a light indicator on the Shift key...

Thank you.

Hello

When you use the Shift key (Maj/Shift/up arrow) or the Caps Lock key (Verr. Maj./Caps Lock above the left Shift)??

Before asking a question: 1° Turn on your brain, your PC doesn't think for you!
2° Google is your friend, the CCM search engine too, do a search!

Good evening
For me, Scarface's answer is Chinese. And the reason I come to this blog is that I couldn't find an answer on Google. So I am still looking for something that would indicate whether I am in a lowercase or uppercase position...

"For me, Scarface's answer is Chinese" <= it's a question, not an answer, there are ? at the end. My answer will come after the response to my question if I can respond of course.

A little "drawing" then.

In blue the caps lock (Verr. Maj./Caps Lock) it locks in uppercase as its name suggests, you have to press again to switch back to lowercase. <= Normally there is a light on the keyboard and/or an icon on the screen when it is activated.
In red, the shift key (Maj/Shift/sometimes an upward arrow) you press, you type your letter in uppercase, you release, it's in lowercase <= no light or anything since you have to press it for it to be active.

30, 40 years ago or more it was already like that for typewriters, even mechanical ones.

In certain cases, it's a good idea to take a photo of the equipment and put it here.

Thank you, Scarface, for your response. Indeed, looking at your attached photo, my keyboard is different. I do not have a "up arrow=Shift" key, only a key with a symbol "drawing of a padlock" instead of the "Caps Lock" key in your photo. If I press this key, I am in uppercase, and if I press it again, it goes back to lowercase, but there is no visual indication of the uppercase or lowercase status...
Well, I won’t bother you any longer. The thing is, when I write text, I can immediately see if it is in uppercase or lowercase, but the problem arises when I mention an identifier or password where there are only "dots" (for secrecy) and if I am in uppercase, it signals an error.
Thank you again for taking the time to help me.

So the Shift/arrow up key exists on ALL keyboards, to the left above Ctrl and below Caps Lock, and there's one on the right as well, below the Enter key and above Ctrl. In fact, personally I only use that one, at least you can be sure you have to keep it pressed to switch to uppercase.

Anyway, so on your laptop, there are no indicators around the keyboard to show that you've activated Caps Lock, not even an icon in the system tray (near the clock)? There are still a whole series of indicators above the keyboard according to the photos I find of your Packard Bell EasyNote LE.
