Connecting Optical Audio Cable (Panasonic TV)
Solved
Hello everyone,
First of all, here is the description of my equipment:
- Panasonic TX-L42E6 TV (https://www.lesnumeriques.com/tv-televiseur/panasonic-tx-l42e6e-tx-l42e6-p16191/test.html
- Philips HTL2160 soundbar
On the TV:
- HDMI 1: PC
- HDMI 2 (ARC): Nexus Player
- HDMI 3: Numéricable Box
Currently, my soundbar is connected via headphone jack (TV headphone output) and RCA (red and white) to the soundbar. However, the sound is, if I may say, terrible... Without much thought, I figured I needed to use an optical connection. So I bought a digital audio cable that I connected to the TV and the soundbar, but nothing, no sound. The cable does emit a red light.
Many say that the SPDIF option needs to be activated on the TV, but that kind of setting is nonexistent on mine.
Do you have any suggestions to try to solve this problem?
Thank you in advance :)

Hello,
If the cable emits a red glow, it means your TV is sending a signal.
Have you correctly selected the optical input on the soundbar?
That said, on the description of your TV on the "LCD compare" site, it says:
- SPDIF selection (Automatic / PCM)
Do as I do, but don't imitate me.
