Hello,
My PC is running extremely slow, I know I have a graphics issue and therefore the PC is sluggish.
But for some time now, it's getting worse and worse, but I don't think the graphics card is to blame, because when I switch to the integrated one, the problem remains the same.
No viruses, for sure, my PC was reset about a month ago at most, and I constantly check with MalwareBytes.
My first question is this:
Is Windows 10 lighter and better than 7? Is it stable?
So can it help me?
My second question:
My Windows 7 has 82 processes running!
Is that normal?
Knowing that by going through msconfig, all startup services are disabled
and that I have listed the unnecessary services and a large part has therefore been disabled.
Also, Windows is set to classic mode (no shadow, design, wallpaper...)
Thank you for your help.
Configuration: Asus X73S Laptop / Windows 7 Home Premium / 4 GB / Intel Pentium 2.20 GHz / Service Pack 1 / Firefox 40.0.3

Hello
You say there are no viruses, it was reinstalled a month ago
that doesn't mean anything, what kind of protection do you have on this PC
apart from MalwareBytes
Do you defragment regularly!
Do you clear your temporary files, cookies, etc.
A PC is like a car? If you don't maintain it
one fine morning it won't start anymore.

Hello paslau35 and thank you,
I only have Malware that I run daily in quick mode and once a week in thorough mode
and CCleaner (which I only use for cleaning, as Malekal advised against cleaning the registry during the last PC cleanup).
Defragmentation is fine, yes!
I don’t think it’s a virus, simply because since my first graphics card failed, I’m taking care of the integrated card, which isn’t that powerful.
I only use 6 things:
-- 2 games purchased via CD at the store (which are part of the same series)
-- 1 online game (which does not display any ads, a classic game that is also fast without any downloads)
-- Facebook (used only on my own profile or for simple comments, but I never click on directed links)
-- A streaming site (without any ads)
-- Sale sites "certified" (b*n c**n, d*lc**pe and pr*cem*n*ster)
-- Google (correct sites and for security in case I have adblockplus)
then it’s the classics integrated into Windows
Outlook 2013, Paint, Word, Calculator ...

Hello again,
more than 5 years
Windows 7 Premium (laptop)
Service Pack 1
4 GB of RAM
Integrated graphics card + NVIDIA GT Force 630M, 1 GB (apparently the NVIDIA is dead, which could explain the slowness - I'm not convinced because before the screen was flickering, so with Malekal we found out that it was finally dead and when resetting it, it started again but after all the Windows updates and the graphics card, the flickering stopped)
4 GB of RAM
Intel Pentium 2.20 GHz - 2.20 GHz
Yesterday I ran a thorough malware scan, My Defrag
I managed to reduce the list to 80 processes (excluding those of all users; otherwise it goes back to 82)
Having updated Flash Player two days ago, Firefox has slowed down tremendously to the point where sometimes there is a "not responding" from the browser and it asks me to "wait or close it - so I have to close it and refresh
Do you think that could be it?
And can I revert to my previous version?
Thanks

disable Flash player
you will be fixed
for the processes, you have a brand computer
so you have more ,,,,,,,,
look in the services

However, what I don't understand is that I disabled the services
at startup, there's nothing checked anymore and I still have 82 processes, while on Google I found a thread about Windows 7 processes, one of the members replied that 80 is huge, way too much!
I noted 2 or 3 things that continue to start at startup and that I couldn't disable
? the first one is the Windows 10 notification (I don't know if it consumes processes or if I need to install it)
? the second is ASUS Live Update (which is annoying, zero critical updates and since the beginning I haven't done any and Windows Update takes care of the updates, right?)
? the third, also annoying, is NVIDIA GeForce Experience, impossible to disable this service
? the fourth and last, I don't know if it's useful anyway, it consists of 2 sound icons
one is the Realtek audio manager, the other is the mixer (personally, I only use the mixer)
As an example, at startup my process list shows 7 NVIDIA processes alone!, but I don't know how to disable them, or which ones are useful or not!
Thank you for your help.

Hello,
On all the PCs I've upgraded from W7 to W10, none have experienced any slowdown; on the contrary. If I were you, I would do the following two things:
- Check with NVIDIA that the driver is the right one for your graphics card. I myself have an NVIDIA card, and the correct W10 driver for my card is not the latest version released. You need to provide the model of your card and look for the driver.
- Run the following online scan:
https://www.eset.com/fr/home/products/online-scanner/
Be careful, you need to run it from Internet Explorer. I did it at home when my PC was lagging like crazy; all the other software you mentioned didn't find anything, but this online scan removed about twenty pieces of junk, and since then my PC has regained its former glory.
It might work for you too.
Best regards.

I tried on Explorer, nothing works!
I click on start the scan, it gives me a window to approve (which isn't in French) and then a window (its URL contains the word pop-up) but the window is empty, just a small floppy disk drawn in the top left corner
As a last resort, I'm trying with Firefox and it works perfectly well. I'm waiting for the analysis.

My Adblock Plus is on, and it hasn't prevented anything ;)
On your advice, I ran an ESET online scan.
It actually detected 4 items, but they seem to be of little importance; they look more like internet pop-ups (even though they don’t appear when I open my browser).
I wanted to delete them, but once I click, ESET offers me two ads: "purchase" and "free trial 30 days."
So, I don't know if the 4 items were deleted or what I should do.

Here it is, the online scan is complete. Below is the window as it appeared by itself at the end of the scan. As I mentioned, the cleaning happened automatically:
List of deleted files:
I exited after clicking on Delete quarantine and the end window that I closed without buying anything or trying for free.
List of deleted files:
I exited after clicking on Delete quarantine and the end window that I closed without buying anything or trying for free.
So, under Firefox, it went like this, but I didn't get an analysis results window, it went straight to the premium ad!
It's not impossible that I skipped the 2 checkboxes..
As a result, I'm going to restart the analysis and see if I can do it
Under Explorer, I don't even have your chart in English, just a plain white window
(but since I never use IE, it's not up to date - maybe that's the cause?)
Otherwise, I ran Rogue Killer
It presented me with a host file where I clicked "repair"
Then it detected 4 files, the names didn't seem alarming, I looked it up online, apparently they were integrated services originally from Windows (I don't remember the name but one of them was a
defense service, like Windows Defender) anyway, since I didn't need them, I chose to delete
And I just checked my process list, I went from 82 services to 75!
Oh yes, just to clarify, I also uninstalled Flash Player which was lagging a lot
So I would like to choose an older version, but I don't know which one!
So observations, either I don't remember, or Rogue Killer’s deletion killed background processes (if it generates a report, I might be able to give you the names of the deletions? Just let me know where it is stored)
Or I forgot that I manually disabled some services (also very possible)
Additionally, uninstalling Flash removed more processes
So in the end, I'm going to redo an ESET scan, reinstall Flash Player, restart the PC, I'll give you the ESET result and check the number of processes!
Thanks

Hello PSud,
So this morning I checked my task manager, 80 processes running, then it quickly dropped to 75.
I turned on the internet, started a basic Facebook game, checked my processes, and they were at 79.
I launched ESET for a new scan, and the processes went back up to 80.
So ultimately Firefox and Flash take up 4 processes, which partly explains the 80.
That said, 80 (85 if I expand the list of all users)
is huge, and I don’t know what to do to disable the latter!
For example, I have:
Asus Live Update
Nvidia Experience
But I don't think I need these two at startup, since I constantly check all drivers.com for hardware updates.
I also have:
2 Nvidia Services Helpers
If you can help me disable them, that would be great!
I uninstalled Flash Player using their tool, then installed the latest version; it’s lagging less on the Flash side.
Waiting for the ESET scan.

Hello,
For NVidia Geforce Experience and Asus Live Update, you should have an icon at the bottom right among the icons near the clock. From there, you should be able to manage the activity of these two functions.

Hello psud.
I think I found a solution for the Asus update, I'll check by restarting. As for GeForce Experience, I've searched through the settings but nothing indicates that it can be disabled.
Thanks
Would it help you if I took a screenshot of all my processes running at startup?

My exchanges led me to look at what I had installed with the NVIDIA driver for my card. All the additional software that comes with the NVIDIA driver are non-essential additions if you don't play recent games with a recent card. As is my case, I started the reinstallation of the driver for my card and went through the option that allows you to choose what you want to install. I unchecked GeForce Experience, Physics, and other trinkets to keep only the driver itself.
Then, as it clearly didn’t uninstall properly what I didn’t want anymore, I went through the control panel to remove the extras and then gave it a little clean-up with CCleaner to finish it off.
I'm left with:
NVIDIA Control Panel
NVIDIA Drivers
NVIDIA Graphics driver 341.81
The 341.81 is the up-to-date W10 driver for my NVIDIA GeForce GTX 280, which I agree is a bit dated but is more than sufficient for me. It's far from being the latest driver released by NVIDIA, but the higher numbered ones are not for my card and cause malfunctions. I found the one that suited me by searching for the driver automatically on the NVIDIA website.

Impeccable, no more GeForce Experience apparently
I now have left:
NVIDIA HD Audio Auto Driver
NVIDIA PhysX System Software
NVIDIA 3D Vision Driver
NVIDIA Graphics Driver
Is that good or can I still remove some?
My processes are now at 66/68 apparently (I will check at startup)
Otherwise, all users, it goes up to 70/71, it's already great!
In my processes, I still have NVIDIA Backend and NVIDIA Settings running
But that seems correct, doesn’t it?
Otherwise, I have some stubborn programs in Add/Remove Programs, they are uninstalled but the entries don’t get deleted, Revo and CCleaner don’t change anything.

Alright, thanks, no big games, just light ones (like Facebook)
Ah, I found out why the uninstallation wasn't working, my service was disabled.
So before I let you go and say thank you for good ^^
In the bottom right of my screen, I have 2 sound icons, the white Windows one (mixer)
and the orange Realtek HD audio one
Are the two linked? Can I not delete one of them or disable the orange one, for example?
If so, how do I do it (I know Realtek audio appears in the control panel, so I could delete it, but the question is whether I would still have sound thanks to the little white icon ^^
Let me know if you don't understand, I'm not always very clear.
I installed Glary's utility, thanks to it, Windows Installer, and now I currently have 53 to 60 processes on startup, it's really good for my graphics card, I'm lagging less now :)

Hello,
I also have the two icons to manage Realtek audio. The white one displayed always at the bottom only shows the master volume, while the other, more feature-rich one, provides a more comprehensive menu when you right-click on it, allowing you to launch a sound mixer or access the sound control panel, which you can also find via the Sound icon in all control panels.
I think these two icons are complementary, so I don’t mind having both of them, especially since only the white icon is displayed permanently, while the other is hidden and only appears if you click on the small arrow on the left to show them:

Yes, in the end I did it like this, I hid them
but I'm going to bother you again, my flash always consumes my CPU between 90 and 100%

Flash player! (sorry)
Flash player slows down my browser as soon as I open it, my CPU goes up to 90/100%
whether it's a simple game or a video
I tried in safe mode, nothing changes
I uninstalled my flash player with the tool provided by Microsoft and then reinstalled the latest version, it worked for an hour, then Flash started to drain all my resources again.
The problem does not exist on Internet Explorer
For Firefox, I've heard about Silverlight, which would replace Flash, so I installed it when I uninstalled Flash player, but I can't see the videos.
I deduce that Silverlight is a complement to Flash player?
Thanks

Hello,
Silverlight (see here: https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Silverlight). It exists as a development tool for web animations that will be played with the corresponding plugin. Likewise, what is developed in Flash must be played with the Flash Player plugin. There is no interoperability between the two platforms. Furthermore, I believe that Silverlight, developed by Microsoft, is only meant for Internet Explorer, although I'm not certain.
Regarding your saturation problem, I'm not quite sure where it could come from. I just launched a Firefox window on a site that simultaneously displays two Flash animations. I just took a screenshot; one of the animations is stopped but you can see two processes:
I don’t know what antivirus you have; I have Avast. It has a very useful option that allows you to manually update, for the free version, a number of installed software, including Adobe ones. Here's what I have on my end:

Hello again,
I did as you told me but it doesn't change anything.
So I am using Explorer in the browser for Flash games.
Firefox is faster for web searches... on Fire.
Well, not knowing Explorer too well, I fumbled around a bit and ultimately it's almost the same except for 2 or 3 things.
It's acceptable for me this way.
Thanks to you for the help (as you were the only one :) ), I’ll wrap it up.
After all, having 2 browsers isn't such a burden as long as it works ^^
