Hello, and thank you for your help:
Free has just installed the fiber wall socket in my apartment. I'm waiting for the new Freebox promised within a week.
I have a question that I hadn't thought of, sorry if I come across as a bit slow.
What happens to the telephone wall sockets with fiber? Given that I am currently on total unbundling with Freebox, meaning I don't have an Orange fixed line.
Have I understood correctly that they become completely useless? Do I just need to plug the phone into the back of the new box?
In short, does the fiber optic cable replace the traditional telephone cable?
Thank you for reassuring me because the nearest wall socket to the fiber box is more than 8 meters away following the baseboards.

Hi,
yes, you need to connect your landline phone to the box, the sockets won't be useful at first, but you can always use them to extend a phone to another room, possibly with a bit of tinkering.
PS,
the Freebox V6 has a DECT base (internal cordless phone), if you have DECT handsets, you can pair them with it.
Fiber advantageously replaces the copper telephone line in the way you use it, but both can work in parallel; you could have traditional telephony on your sockets, with an Orange subscription, or even another ADSL provider alongside the Freebox.
and ... Voila Voilou Voila !
