Hello,
My computer is excessively slow, and I've checked what's running, and the process wuauclt.exe is using a lot of resources (202,540) (for your information, it runs in the background constantly).
After searching, it seems that this is Windows Update. Normally, there shouldn't be any for Windows XP anymore.
So my question is: how can I stop this process and, if possible, prevent it from starting up again?
Configuration: Windows XP / Firefox 40.0

It looks like it's working!
For Windows XP: Control Panel --> System --> Automatic Updates --> Disable

To disable the Millennium Update automatic feature, you can do the following:
Control Panel -> Performance and Maintenance
-> Administrative Tools -> Services
In the table, find "Automatic Updates," double click on the function, and set the Startup type to "Disabled."
