Qwerty keyboard converted to Azerty: hashtag key missing

Hello,
I recently acquired a 13-inch MacBook Pro Retina with a QWERTY keyboard. I changed the system preferences to convert it to AZERTY. Everything works perfectly, except that I can't type the hashtag key. Indeed, on most Apple keyboards, it seems that the key to the left of "1" includes an at symbol and a hashtag. On mine, this key has two brackets, a key that is normally to the left of "w". On my keyboard, this key doesn't exist; there is directly the shift key next to the w. I can type the at symbol by pressing alt + the £ key located below the delete, but I can't seem to find the hashtag key... I feel like I'm the only person in the world with this type of keyboard... has anyone ever encountered this problem...? Thank you..
Configuration: Mac OS X (10.10.4) / Chrome 43.0.2357.130

Hello
try pressing the alt key plus the 3 key from the top row...
In System Preferences, Keyboard, enable the option to have the keyboard viewer accessible from the menu bar... it allows you to see the effect of the keys..

Are you sure you chose French from France?
Otherwise for the shortcut: http://symbolcodes.tlt.psu.edu/keyboards/charpalosx.html
Apple > System Preferences > Keyboard > Text

Yes.... what is very strange is that when I type "azerty keyboard macbook pro retina" into Google, the keyboard images I get show a key with an at sign and hashtag to the left of the 1 key and a key with < and > to the left of the w. On my keyboard as it appears in system preferences (so not on my physical qwerty keyboard but on the displayed numeric azerty keyboard on my screen), the key next to the w does not exist and the key to the left of the 1 includes < and >. It’s as if there is a key missing on my keyboard....

I don't know exactly what type of keyboard is physically installed on this Mac.
You have switched a physical Qwerty keyboard to Azerty mode software-wise; I personally have no way of testing where the hash sign (hashtag) has gone since my physical keyboard is in Azerty.
In order for you to use a physical Qwerty keyboard in Azerty mode without any hassle, you will need to physically rearrange the keys, or maybe that has already been done?
In any case, you can perfectly modify the mapping of a keyboard, for example, so that when you type a semicolon, it actually gives you a period.
You just need to use the Ukelele software for this. You create a keyboard based on your existing keyboard, modify it, and apply the new keyboard layout, either for yourself or for all users. It works perfectly well.

I didn't physically move the keys (I'm not knowledgeable enough to do such a thing), I was actually wondering if it's possible to ask Apple to do it at an Apple store? Although living in the United States, I'm not sure they have an AZERTY keyboard on hand...
Okay, I will take a look at this Ukulele software, thanks...
P.S.: I attached a screenshot of my virtual azerty keyboard in the comments in case it can help...

I don't see any screenshot ...

As for the keys, I wasn't thinking of changing the entire keyboard, but moving the keys one by one ... obviously changing the whole keyboard seems simpler. I can't picture myself using a keyboard that doesn't match the characters ... unless I draw or stick an A on the Q, etc... :-)

Yes, it's due to the stickers :). I should clarify that when my keyboard is set to QWERTY, there's no problem finding the hash key, which is indeed located above the 3. The issue arises when I switch my keyboard to AZERTY: the key seems to disappear. I've tried every possible combination with alt, ctrl, shift, etc., and nothing works. The at sign doesn't appear on my keyboard either, but I can get it by using alt + the key below delete. But the hash key... As I mentioned earlier, I think it's because instead of the hash/@ key normally located above tab, I have the < > key, which is usually to the left of the w on Mac AZERTY keyboards as I see in images on Google. On my keyboard, that key doesn't exist; there's directly a shift key to the left of the w. But I'm surprised I haven't found anyone with the same problem in my searches online; I can't be the only owner of a 13' Retina MacBook Pro with a QWERTY keyboard who uses the AZERTY numeric keyboard...

I used the keyboard viewer and it's really frustrating because it seems there’s no way to get the hashtag key... it seems crazy to me....
