IMovie won't quit!

Good evening,
I have to turn in a CD tomorrow with a compilation of several songs on it. I've succeeded several times before, but not this time. I’ve restarted my project 7 times and I’m beyond frustrated! The iMovie app won’t even close. I’ve tried everything, “iMovie -> quit iMovie,” or shutting down my Mac with the button, but it says “Please try again when these tasks are completed. You can follow their progress by clicking the Activity Monitor in the toolbar.”
It’s impossible to close the application!
I then deleted my projects, put them in the trash, emptied the trash, restarted my project, and when I try to share (file), it doesn't work. Normally, the little blue circle in the top right fills up during the download, but not this time. Nothing happens. Please, could you help me urgently...?
