Message on Facebook Messenger "sent" but not "received"

Hello,

I noticed that after the Messenger update, there are now circles next to the messages we send: when the message is "sent," the circle appears transparent, and when it is "delivered," it appears blue.
So, here’s my question: I sent a message to a contact that shows as "sent" (therefore, with the transparent circle), but only this person is online… and my message still appears as "sent" and not "delivered."
How is that exactly?

Thank you for your responses.

Here is the meaning of the symbols:

  • A message that is "sent" but not "delivered" is waiting to be delivered to the recipient. They are disconnected from Facebook or Messenger.

It appears in the recipient's messaging as a notification that the recipient must respond to in order to accept or decline the request (especially for an unknown contact).

If the contact declines the request or accepts it, the message will be "delivered," and you will be notified of their refusal or acceptance. Even without a decision from their part, the message can go into "delivered" mode. It will remain as simply sent if the notification has not been processed or marked as read.

Finally, a "sent" but not "delivered" message may correspond to a message appearing in a filtered folder of the contact. The message appears in a filtered folder according to the person's privacy settings.
