Hello,
I would like to acquire a Philips HTL3140 soundbar with HDMI ARC. However, my HD TV from 2010 has HDMI connections but does not have "ARC" technology. Can I use the soundbar? Do I need any additional equipment? Thank you.

Hello appolo_gise,
I’ll reply to you because you might still be waiting a while to hear back from Philips Support ;-)
You’re absolutely right, combining a "normal" HDMI connection with an optical connection makes up for the absence of HDMI ARC.
But be careful, I know that Philips TVs have long been equipped with a DIGITAL COAXIAL connection (orange RCA) instead of optical, but it seems that currently they have caught up with other brands by including an optical output on their new TVs.
It would be worth checking on yours, but the simplest thing would be for you to give me the exact model number of your HD TV from 2010, which generally starts with the letters " PFH " or " PFK " or the more common " PFL ".
If I’m not mistaken, your TV, given its age, should still have a DIGITAL COAXIAL output and not an optical one, but with the exact model number, I can confirm or deny that.
Best regards ;-)

My TV is not a Philips but an LG. It has an optical digital output.
TV model 26 LE3300. I also have an Xbox and a Blu-ray player. Just keep them connected to the TV and simply connect the TV to the soundbar using an optical cable. Is that right?
Hello Stargate43,
My TV is an LG model 26 LE3300. It has an optical digital out.
I also have an Xbox and a Blu-ray player. I just need to connect them to the TV and then connect the TV to the soundbar using the optical digital cable. Is that it? In fact, I don't need HDMI, I think? Thank you in advance for your answer.
Hi,
my television is a Tokaï LTL 2212 E and there is no sound, but if I connect speakers, the sound comes through the speakers. What should I do, please? THANK YOU
