Hello,
my brother lost one of his course files for no reason.
He worked on Word documents for word processing and saved the files in a folder on his USB drive ONLY. However, he worked on 2 different computers, plugging in the USB drive each time and saving at the end of each work session.
At his last opening (02/09/2015 at 8:07 PM) an error message appears: "The drive or network connection designated by the shortcut nomdudossier.Ink is not available. Please check that the disk is properly inserted or that the network resource is available." It is therefore impossible to open the file.
Moreover, the folder has disappeared from the USB drive but is present on the 2 computers he used for his work IN THE FORM OF A SHORTCUT. It is therefore impossible to open the folder on the computers.
How can we retrieve the original folder?
Thank you in advance for your help.

Hello,
you should try a file recovery utility like Recuva:
https://www.commentcamarche.net/telecharger/utilitaires/19127-recuva/
There are others of course.
